Do any of you have or do any of your children or relatives have anxiety disorder?  You don't have to answer here you can PM if preferred. I am in need of information and/or help. Thanks.

My son suffered a lot from anxiety when he was younger. We set him up with a specialist that works with children with anxiety. After about six months of meetings, she taught him coping methods and he's been 100% fine every since....it's been a couple of years now....You can still tell when something is bothering him, but you just leave him alone...he deals with it.....and everythings works itself out....kind of amazing transformation from before....

There's people out there, just get your child the help he needs now :alan2cents:....and I wish you the best of luck, it can be very hard on parents too.....
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

I have a co-worker whose daughter developed a severe case of anxiety in junior high. After a year or so of the same treatment Alan described, she had gotten significantly better. Her case required some maintenance over the years. Skip forward to the present day and just this week, she dropped her daughter off at college!  :woohoo: Good luck, Buddy, there's nothing more important, or more worth the invest, than family.

I don't want to get into too much detail, just because of privacy for my son but he was diagnosed awhile ago w/ anxiety disorder a few years ago but for some reason it exploded this past January. The spring was stress up the wazzoo.  We have had several counselors involved and we took special measurers so he could graduate 10th grade. I moved to Fl. after discussing it with everyone thinking/hoping it would e a good move since he was very happy about it.  It took him awhile to settle in but I think he finally has but..... his anxiety has gone to another level and it rips my heart out to see him go thru certain things. He is seeing a specialist and has been given coping tools but it is more than that for him. The things he tells me are heart breaking and I am emotionally spent. I have learned real fast that it is a very real thing not to be taken lightly. Bottom line is if the person doesn't want help how do you convince them they can benefit from it? The daily struggles that we all go through are taking a toll on everyone. I don't think the professionals helping him are doing squat, but trying to get an adolescence into a group that deals with them is almost impossible.

I'll throw this out there for your consideration.   My Son's issues(depression diagnosis) were helped more by this recommendation by a mental heath professional than all the therapy & pills combined.
We enrolled him in a Karate program ran by a 6-degree black belt

I think people in general are over medicated in today's society, so I'm not saying this lightly.  Maybe your son needs to be on some "closely monitored" medication that can take the edge off of the symptoms.  Maybe the "coping tools" would be more effective?

A good friend of mine grew up with an alcoholic father that was emotionally abusive.  He was on medication for anxiety pretty early on as a child.  His father saw the error of his ways and stopped drinking and is a really nice guy now.  My friend stopped needing to take the medication after that.  Fast forward to 2013 when my son got sick.  The anxiety that my friend felt as a child came back after he learned of my son's illness.  He got back on a daily medication that allowed him to live his life and take care of his own family.

I'll be thinking about you and your family.  I'm hoping for the best!
