I don't believe it is the original prototype. There was one GT500 prototype hardtop, Little Red" . It had a twin Paxton supercharged 427 engine, NOT a 428. This car was destroyed by Ford to avoid product liability problems. Source: 1967 Shelby American World Registry.

Here is a picture of the one I let get away. It took first place at the Diablo Valley Mustang Show in 2006.

Well If Marti has confirmed it's authenticity either his integrity is bought & sold like that of a certain Mopar "Guru" or the car never got destroyed.... Considering the "Green Hornet" was supposed to meet the same fate & also still exists causes me to want to believe Kevin Marti's integrity is intact.....

As far as the 427 vs 428 remember the story was written not by a car authority but a news reporter.... But then they never confuse/mis-represent facts...

To bad you let the Shelby get away, looks like a damn nice car....

Can you give more details on the Mopar Guru??? I need to know!

HP2

Sounds like a pretty rare combo of things and if its twin went for $1.9m, no reason to think this one couldn't be in a similar ball park.

I think an inanimate object is only worth as much as it is to the eye of the beholder.  Life is more precious than anything!!!!
