Swamp Donkey

Thanks guys.  We have another dog, a 4 year old male St. Bernard.  He definitely knew she was gone when we brought her home to her final resting place. Just by him smelling her  My son commented that he has never heard a dog cry because he was making so many different noises and whimpering like we have never heard.   He was laying near the burial site for and would not leave for hours.  Going to give it a few months and decide if we even are going to get another dog.

My boy crossed over the rainbow bridge in March. He was 13....miss him every day.

Can't seem to get the pic to stay straight. It shows correct on my PC and then uploads sideways.....

Ralphie definitely has a mind of his own
When we went to the shelter to find a new family dog, there was a group of about 6 dog cages sitting on the floor with larger dogs up for adoption. As we walked by, all the dogs were barking and jumping around, very hyper and loud.  Ralphie caught our eye; he was laying down quiet and calm, but watched us with his eyes, just following us as we walked back and forth.
We asked the attendant to bring Ralphie out and he immediately bonded with my daughter. It was all over at that point.
He was about 6 months old at that point, and the first owner turned him in to the shelter after keeping him for only a short time.

He came to us with some training which was good (sits, stays) He asks to go out to the yard when he has the need; This last one is a biggie for us.
He grew a little bigger then we originally expected. Interestingly, we have had a number of dogs over the last 25 years; he seems to exhibit a lot of intelligence and intuition, more so then the other dogs we have owned.
He has also bonded with our cat and they have become the best of friends  (sleeping next to each other and following each other around the house)

Ralphie is at times a handful, (likes to go downstairs from the bedrooms, leaping over 6 steps into the living room in one jump! He is definitely a CHARACTER. (LIKES TO EAT THE CAT'S FOOD EVEN THOUGH HE KNOWS IT IS OFF LIMITS)
Overall an interesting dog.  We now always look for shelter animals to adopt; it could save a life!

Yes: They are as unique as people are. When we took our 3 year old son to pick out a cat a similar thing happened. I didn't think the kitten was that attractive but my son and him were interested in each other right away.

My last baby Hurley developed a large mass on her forehead. Brought her in for blood tests,x-rays and a preliminary biopsy. She is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday.

She's an 11 year old Dachshund. She's my buddy, my friend. I pray she pulls through. She's the last of three Dachshund's we had.

IRON MAN

I've always been a one dog owner. My second Rottweiler (Kaiser) passed 4 mths ago, at age 11-1/2. Last week, a 2 yr old Rottweiler (AKC registered) became available. A married couple lost their home during the terrible  N. Mendocino fire two months ago, and had to move into a trailer nearby Martinez, Ca. Their Rottie did not take too well to the trailer life. They were very selective on who would get their dog. My home/property  and experience with Rotties won them over after they paid a visit. I renamed her(formerly "Eve") Kensi because I like the actress who plays Kensi in NCIS Los Angeles. Kensi is now settled in and follows me everywhere. It's great having another furry companion.
