Just got back from vacation yesterday.  I go to the Mopar Nats every year and we seem to end up in Las Vegas every three years or so, but it's been awhile since we went somewhere different.(somewhere we've never been before)  My wife's sister and her husband move around quite a bit.  He's in the military and they move him around every few years.  They were stationed at West Point a few years ago but we never had the chance to visit them before they moved.  Well, they just moved back so we jumped at the chance to go out that way.  We were able to stay with them at their house on post.  He is a teacher there and was able to give us a private tour of the grounds. It's a very beautiful area.

Beautiful place.Especially in the fall. I was there a few times back in the mid 80's competing in karate tournaments.

Then on Sunday we ventured into New York City.  We took the train in to Grand Central Station, then took the subway to the 911 memorial.  If anyone is planning on going to the 911 museum, I recommend buying tickets in advance.  We had to stand in line for over an hour in the pouring rain just to get tickets.  Then we had to stand in another line to get into the museum.  Plan your activities in advance and buy your tickets ahead of time.  You'll get to do a lot more with your time if you can minimize the time spent in line.  We only had time to see the 911 memorial site, eat lunch and see the Statue of Liberty from the Staten Island ferry.  That ate up the entire day.  I also suggest reading up on the subway system so you don't have to spend a bunch of time trying to figure out how all that works.  Overall it was a fun day but we need to go back and spend more time in the city seeing other things.  Maybe we will be a little more prepared next time.

Thats awesome.  Now I have 3 kids running around my house I am beginning to wonder if I will ever make it to the East Coast.  Those are some nice sites you visited.  Were those first pics West Point?

Remember our West Coast deal.  We will go for a ride together if you make to LA County.

Thanks for sharing.  Great photos!   :clapping:

West Point is quite the impressive sight from either the river looking up or the train across the river.  I've seen it from the train a few times.

Yes, my brother-in-law is a teacher there.  They will be at West Point for three years.  At that point he will try to get assigned there permanently.  If that doesn't work out, he has been in the military so long that he could retire...and he's in his early 40s.

I haven't forgotten.  It's on my list to visit California.  We took a Hollywood tour there once when we were in Vegas.  I'd like to visit and see more things.

Here's a quick picture I took from the train platform while we were waiting for it to arrive.
