I am considering going to LED style lights in my shop; currently I just have old ceramic bases with screw in squirrel cage fluorescent bulbs in them.
I've been doing some reading and it sounds like the LED fluorescent style light fixtures would be perfect, but I don't know a lot about them.
My shop is 30'x30' with 12 foot ceiling.
Anyone gone to LED lights? Should I just go to LED bulbs in my screw in bases or change out to fixtures?

I have four 400 watt metal halide lights in my 40x50 shop... I am looking to replace them with LED, I believe I can get more light with half the power. Google search LED SHOP BAY LIGHTS

I haven't made a selection yet, I am just getting started on this search myself.

I did this...... still working great, actually from the same seller I just ordered another ( smaller) led fixture for above my kitchen sink to replace a failed fluracent fixture

So Brads70; to confirm, you just added LED fluorescent style bulbs to existing ballast style fixtures?

No I replaced the whole fixture, but I understand you can just ditch the ballast and use the existing fixture? New fixture came with reflective "covers"? I figured it would help disperse more light?

I had 4 8' flourescent T12 fixtures in garage and replaced them with 12-4 foot LED fixtures. These can be linked together up to four. I used the existing wiring from the 8' foot fixtures, dropped in 4 AC outlets, screwed them to ceiling, plugged them in and couldn't be happier.

Bought them on EBay.

SOrt of an old thread but in case anyone is still interested ---

I bought several 4 foot LED fixtures from harbor Freight....I think BRAUN makes them.....$20 each on sale....

I hung two in my backyard car tent (20x10) and I am bowled over with how bright they are....

So I bought a couple more for my garage area......

Time will tell how long they last of course....

But the flo tubes are getting to be a real PITA to find and use/store etc.

I converted one of my shops to LED a few years ago, well worth the effort.
Mopar or no car!!!
