Ever since I got my first light, I've wanted to create one with a Mopar theme.  I've got other "normal" light setups in the garage so I wanted this one to be different.  Last summer I purchased some vinyl decals and finally got around to using them.  After cleaning the plastic light housings I applied the decals.  Then I scuffed up the plastic with a scotchbrite pad and sprayed satin black over everything.  I hooked each light up to power and checked to make sure no light was shining through since the LEDs are so bright.  It took 3 coats to completely block out the light.  Then I let each light dry for an hour so the paint was tacky but not completely dry.  Then I peeled off the decals.  They turned out pretty good.  Not perfect but pretty good.

With the light faces mostly black, I didn't want to leave the signal head doors all black too.  I wanted some contrast and something more interesting.  I found a paint color at the store that is somewhere in between FJ5 & FJ6.  It definitely has a Mopar feel to it.  I'm happy with the color but the paint is awful.  If you are ever needing to use spray paint, do NOT use Krylon Fusion 2 in 1 paint + primer.  It is the worst stuff I've ever seen.  It's almost completely clear, with just a minimal amount of color.  What should have been 2 or 3 quick coats, ended up being the entire can and it could still use another coat honestly.  Total junk.  I was going to spray the visors the same color but with that awful paint, it would be impossible.  I have an idea to possibly mask off some racing stripes on the visors.  At least that would require less paint.  I haven't decided what to do just yet.

So, here is the finished product...minus visors.  This should look great in the garage.

Snazzy. Does it alternate through lights or just light up all at once?

Right now it's just wired up to power.  No sequencing.  I've got sequencers in some of my other lights so it would be easy to do.

I sent an email to Krylon and got a reply.  They said my experience with their paint wasn't the norm and offered me a refund.  I sent them pictures of the can along with the #s on the bottom.  Maybe there is a bad batch floating around out there?
