I went with Murray to look at the car and there were multiple issues that, as Murray stated, you don't want to see in a $65,000 car. The left replacement 1/4 was poorly installed and lapped over the visible upper remains of the original. It wasn't welded properly nor enough, at the trunk extension lower. The rear body crossmember had been punched and just yanked out. The upper body panel, as warned, was not pretty at the corners of the rear glass, which was also nicely sanded in said corners. The left inr apron had a hole rotted through due to battery acids. The deck lid had been caught in the top middle at some time, putting a "wow" in the edge. The bondo wasn't cleared off the front edge of the lft rocker. The drivers door had a 5/16-3/8' gap at the top and a 1/16' gap at the bottom due to worn hinges. The car was originally a light yellow colour. Both 1/4 glasses were also sanded. The grille was dented in the centre and dull. Oh, and did I mention that the owner casually informed us that the trans was also basically shot, but that he had an estimate from a local shop to repair it for "only" $2000? The upside? The engine ran and sounded great. Here endeth the sermon. Keep your eyes open laddies!

Sad thing is, someone who isn't as picky as you, will likely, even gladly plunk down the guy's $65K asking price...

Unless you decide to restore a car yourself, you'll have to look at a lot of lemons before you find your cherry :alan2cents:

For me this was not a wasted trip. I'm in the market for another car. On the way up there I was coming face on with spending 65K on a car. That's a lot of coin! I was internet shopping last night and found two 68 Coronets with 440 six barrels, both black with red tail stripe, both RTs for half the money. They're not Chargers but still beautiful cars in the right colour scheme for me and I'd still have 30K in my pocket. Hmmm.

You think like I do. Chargers are nice cars and all but I just can't see peeling off that much cash just to be in the imperfect Charger club.
