me too, I love this kinda stuff. just ran across this one yesterday

125cc Hand Made Miniature V10 Engine

Growing older is mandatory...growing up is optional.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

'70 Barracuda B5/B5 225 /6 3spd ... about as bare bones as they came

Brads70

 :Thud:   wow amazing workmanship!  :clapping:

Finally, I'll put a miniature Hemi engine on top of my 360 running in tandem and be able to call it a Hemi 'Cuda

That V10 is incredible, but I guess my first question is, why?!  I mean, obviously that guy has the skills AND the equipment to build pretty impressive stuff, so why not build a real engine you could actually use?!  I just don't know what you could actually do with that engine - I can't imagine it would work in a lawn mower or something like that...  maybe...?

Don't get me wrong - it's very impressive.  I just wonder how you enjoy it besides showing it off to buddies when they visit.

Looks very similar to the Conley 1/4 scale engines. http://www.conleyprecision.com/index.html
Jeff, how about putting that V10 in a 1/4 scale remote controlled Viper?

Something like this.
Ready-to-run car with remote control, starts at: $17,950.00

edit:
How about a 1/4 scale Grave Digger...

It's just a hobby like building model cars. Why do you make beer ? :dunno:

I dunno man - for what I suspect he's invested time-and-money wise into that engine, I could have opened a BREWERY...  :)

I mean, making a beer costs me maybe $30 bucks and 4 weeks or so, and after that I can enter it into competitions, take it to a serving event, share it with friends at a party...  Now - believe me, my beer on the scale of beer quality doesn't come close to the quality of that engine - I'm just puzzled by the "investment verses reward" perspective, ya know?

Trust me - I'm not knocking the guy.  I watched the whole video, just amazed at the photos of the build.  I kept wondering things like, "Did he design it?  How?  Who made the drawings?  Who engineered this thing?  How many drill bits does he go through?  What kind of torque can the driveshaft withstand?  Where do those exhaust hoses go?!" :)

Somebody's gotta build the miniature transmission and differential first!  :)

:unbelievable:

You must've added those links after I started my response.  Holy MOLY $8,000+ for a miniature engine!!  I dunno what shocks me more - the price or that people actually pay it!  That must be one hobby that actually pays you for your labor!

That's amazing - I mean, that's a 5.5 horsepower miniature engine for the price of a fully rebuilt 440 big block...  :)

One build I seen years ago they used a centrifugal clutch and a three speed bicycle hub for transmission. Then used a small riding lawnmower differential.
