Strangely, I miss the snow.   We had a dusting with some ice here in TX a week or so ago, which was treated by the local media as a major weather event.

This past weekend we went had a cottage rented on a small lake near Huntsville, ON with my daughter and her partner. Nearby Arrowhead Provincial Park has a 3/4 mile skate trail lit with tiki torches. The 3/4 moon made it a perfect evening.

It's a hiking trail in the summer. It's open to the public on weekends. They shut it down at 4:00 to clean and flood it for the evening crowd. They had a sweeper on the front of a tractor for cleaning it, I didn't see what they use to flood it. You have to apply for admission so the numbers are controlled which is a good thing because it's very popular. There's some picnic tables, benches and firepits where you can put your skates on plus they have shelves with big pigeon holes where you can put your boots. It's a short walk though the trees from the parking lot to the skate trail and that path is also lit with tiki torches. It's very cool at night. We were lucky that the night was clear with good moonlight.
