RIP Sterling.
Always thought it was a shame he never won the F1 World Championship. Runner up 4 times...

Sad News , Brad & I were talking about this about 2 weeks ago , A lot of the famous racers are still alive for now but many are in late 70s & 80s now .
RIP :andyangel:

Back when I was in college in the mid 80s, my next door neighbor in my parents neighborhood, Tom, was restoring a '62 Lotus Elite(?) and he'd invite me to join him to go up the Road America for the vintage races, which were in June back then.  One year we were walking through the pits and Stirling Moss walked by, Tom got all excited and went over and met him, shook his hand or got an autograph or something, I don't recall exactly now 35 years later.  I really had no idea who he was then, but learned about him later and now wish I'd shook his hand or got an autograph too!
I've known Ronnie Kaplan's daughter Jill many years now, and work at the same employer with her for the last 8 years too. I never met Ronnie, and now that he's since passed away, I wish I'd mentioned to Jill I'd like to meet him since I'm a big vintage Trans Am series fan.  I did mention to her while her dad was still alive that maybe he could make an appearance at MCACN. She said he loved taking about those days, but sadly I never followed up to ask Bob Ashton about maybe setting that up, which I also regret now.

R.I.P. Stirling and God speed. I saw him on one of our expeditions to Watkins Glen for the vintage F1 races, but never got the chance to talk to him. I bet he had a 1000 stories to tell!  :bye:
