Sure seems like scams are increasing.

The social Security called me again today,
So I pressed one to get a live person.

I answered...Hello Ms. Scam Artist.
She gave me the middle finger word and quickly hung up.

Earlier, I received this  e-mail...How are you? i need a favor from you.

I need to get a PlayStation Gift Card for my nephew, it's his birthday today and I totally forgot i can't do this now because I'm currently on a short trip. Can you help grab one from any store around you? i'll pay you as soon as i am back.

kindly let me know if you can handle this.

I never had friends address me as Hello and end with Kindly.   ::)

Then yesterday the car warranty is about to end. Oh No!!! What do I do?   :o    :haha:

Just 1 more reason I love living in Panama . I cannot remember getting a scam phone call here ever !

I probably get 5+ phone calls a week, and a dozen spam emails. I spam/block them but it doesn't seem to do me any good. I've even been getting spam texts now. Everything from viagra to weed and political stuff. Its never ending

I've found since this plandemic started I've noticed a sharp drop off in those kind of calls?  :notsure:
No more duct cleaners, jail threats for taxes, etc.... Maybe that Nigerian prince finally ran out of money to give away?  :haha:

I've been working from home like so many, and recently my home phone has been ringing at least once an hour, and they hang up before it goes to voicemail.
I don't have caller ID so have no clues as to who is calling.  It's pretty irritating as I'll be in a call or meeting sometimes with the phone ringing in the background.
I won't answer my home phone weekdays as 99% of calls are sales, charity or scam.  I really should just get it disconnected as it's more irritation than benefit!

They usually stop at four rings, The one's i like are the spoof calls. were the number shows as a local number.  :verymad:

One thing I do is I never answer my phone with "Hello" . . which triggers the computer to start the recording . . so most of the time, no one is there.
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

I love my magicJack. Numbers I don't recognize go into my "Blocked Number" list. It's up to 26 of an available 99 to block.

I'll go one better. I just don't answer the phone, unless it shows on my directory as to who is calling. If it's important, leave a message. Otherwise, I am not interested.

Oh, btw, on some days, I'll receive no less than a half of dozen calls that I let go to voice mail. Occasionally, a bot will leave a partial message letting me know it's "Important" and that the "IRS is on it's way to arrest me." I'm still waiting, at home, for them to show up!

BIGSHCLUNK

Between the shops email and my cell I get at least 5 per day. I never answer of reply.... but they keep on coming....

Back in the days before pests stopped me from answering my home phone altogether, I was getting a lot of calls from Indian scammers saying they were from Microsoft and needed to fix my computer.  One time I got one of those calls, I acted appreciative he was going to help me, but said I had dial up internet and needed this line to access the internet so he could help me, what can I do?  He asked if I had a cell phone, I said sure, he said give me the number, then hang up, and go online and I'll call you on your cell.
I gave him the Chicago FBI number I'd looked up and written down by my phone to have ready for the next scammer clown who called!

Speaking of scams - i have had two knuckleheads in the past week respond to a wanted ad that I placed on this site. I have learned to check profiles before responding. Both messages came from people with 0 posts. :verymad:

I get calls occasionally saying my "Windows license is about to expire". Gee, how do they know what kind of PC I have?

Then the best one was from the IRS saying I'm being sued. Well, I still haven't received any formal letter about that, so I'll be blocking those calls.

I have to admit though, that they are stepping up their game. I got a call yesterday saying that a $149.99 charge was put on my Visa from Amazon. Call this number to verify you made this purchase. I looked at my bank account online, there were no charges pending, but it scared me that maybe my credit card was hacked.

Our home service is now digital. My wife spent a couple hours loading hang up numbers into a spam database about a year ago.
Now 99.9% of the time phone will ring only once and "the system" ends it.

Speaking of spoofing... I had previously received many calls that showed my own number.  :bricks:

I don't answer the phone unless I know the person.  What gets me is the towns where the calls are supposed to originate from. Most of the scam calls have Idaho towns listed and do show our area code. I keep getting one about once a week from Sweet Id. A very small town north of Boise with a population of maybe 40 people. Yea right. The other scam I am getting are texts from 3 to 4 different persons that want to buy my house. They know my name and address and will pay cash.  I just ignore them but they are pretty persistent .
