Saw this while leaving a plant where I was working today....

Either the 5th wheel didn't lock correctly  & he didn't check it or the trailer king pin failed

I would guess the king pin failed, because it looks as if he was turning right and the trailer wanted to go straight  If it came un-latched you'd think it would just drop the trailer behind, instead it looks like the trailer was passing the truck. :dunno:

He was just leaving the dock... Hard right onto the street....  Pretty sure it wasn't an equipment failure....

:iagree:   I drove professionally for 23 years....it likely wasn't locked when he left the dock!

Yup: Tug test wasn't done. We've got lots of those guys up here, it's getting quite scary on the highways now.

I can't tell you how many times I have seen damage at street docks at all the warehouses I visit.

Truck class A drivers work with wreckless abandon everywhere I go.

Poles bent, Grass corners crushed in, trees hit, Boulders hit. etc.

I see it every week. I live in warehouse World.
I'm a truck magnet everyday.  :bricks:

They cut you off, and block you off even though they know you're coming at them and you should go first before they make a move.   :steamingmad:

edit: Oh yeah, One more thing: They drive like Angels on the Freeways and Highways then of course.
CHP a$$ kissing and avoiding.

I would almost bet that particular truck is out of Surrey B.C. Canada. There is a broad base of companies there that have third rate drivers and run south.
The thing with drivers is, with everything against the driver, having to run long hours, wait to load for free, wait to unload for free, deal with overzealous scales, deal with overzealous border guards, deal with absolutely scary car drivers. They should get paid considerably more than a forklift driver who deals with none of those hassles and sleeps in his own bed every night. However the opposite is true, lots of forklift drivers get paid more than an over the road driver so this is where it ends up. No one with any brains wants to drive anymore  because of the low pay so we have very low quality drivers in that truck that is meeting your wife and family out on the road.
It was so bad that when I ran my container company I would not let anyone into the yard to deliver trailers or containers. I would make them drop the trailer on the street so they wouldn't hit anything in the yard.
All the trucks are going to automatics as well, That isn't because companies like to pay more for them either.

There's a lot of truth in that!

I drove for a number of years too , always fudging log books , sleeping when you could , mostly I was working north in the oil patch running on ice roads . Mostly I stayed short haul moving pebbles or asphalt not that it was any better other than the lack of log books ! Pay always sucked as well as endless hours & you take all the responsibility  tickets scales maintaining the equipment or at least trying to get the boss to maintain it . At least it was a way to make a few $$ between good jobs / :Thud:

You got it CP. I got my license about 15 years ago because I knew it would always put food on the table if needed. I do enjoy the actual driving of trucks but everything that goes with it is pretty much negative.

If we didn't have transport trucks then our New Canadians wouldn't find a job.  :) They even have their own driver training companies now too....
