This is the problem - "Officers responded and asked the group to leave as traffic backed up for about eight minutes, WTOP reported. No one was arrested, police said. "  No one was arrested and they ASKED to leave, are you friggin kidding me? At the very least they should have towed the cars and handed out hefty tickets and court appearances.

blown motor

This will continue because a few have gotten away with it and that will enbraven (is that a word?) others. If they want to stop it the need need to make arrests, impound the car until after trial and upon a guilty verdict crush the cars.

I don`t think crushing someones vehicle is appropriate punishment for doing donuts but they do need to have some consequences for thier actions or it will just continue.

There have been a number of instances in recent years of groups shutting down roads, even highways to do their antics.
In Chicago and elsewhere large groups organize to ride hundreds of motorcycles and ATVs down city streets terrorizing motorists and even people on the sidewalks.
I read an article recently where someplace around Atlanta the cops busted dozens in a parking lot where they were gathering for one of their "events" arresting them and impounding cars.
This just happened in Memphis

The cops need to come down hard on these hoodlums to keep the problem from getting even worse!

I remember doing some pretty stupid stuff similar to that when I was a teenager.  Hard to believe looking back but TG we didn't have the capacity to video document all of our idiotic transgressions and display them.

Doing donuts or burnouts in a parking lot/closed road sure or even public roads in the late hours, but these people are doing it in the middle of crowded highways and city streets in broad daylight...the main difference being the number of people that could be impacted if something went wrong. These guys are even getting out of their cars to film the cars doing it...people walking around in the middle of a highway in the afternoon is about as dangerous as it gets, especially when you consider how foggy the area gets from burnouts/donuts.

I have to tell you, that is a crazy busy part of the Beltway. I can't believe they pulled this off without someone getting killed. I would have been so pi$$ed off if I was having to wait while this was happening.   :pullinghair:  Morons, that's all I can say.

In today's world the police have unfortunately been totally emasculated. Instead of respect and compliance, there is now contempt and confrontation. If they touch anyone they find themselves in court being sued. It has become a truly f***ed up world today.  :pullinghair:
Cheers!

Tis' better to have owned classic Mopars and lost than to have never owned at all (apologies to Alfred Lord Tennyson)

or charged with assault or worse - just for trying to do thier job. Sure most of us did dumb things when we were younger and still do burnouts or get on it once in a while but nothing to the extreme or as dangerous as shutting down a busy highway during the day.

Update: The driver of the orange Charger was arrested, and his car was seized. It also appears he had modified some temp tags, this guy got charged with 6 things, so good on the police!

This article has much clearer videos, but I am sorry to say it's all mopars involved, including the front line of cars blocking traffic.
