I feel sorry for that guy. Nice looking car and parts breakage can happen to anyone at any time.....  Other than the rear end laying in the street, that's a nice looking car....

Yes that is a shame.
I saw this posted a few years back.
No leafs so my vote is a poorly welded in link setup. Hopefully it is back on road again with proper welds.

What a ride that would be eh ? At first you wouldn't have a clue of what was happening, then it flies up in the air like that  :o

Ya, that video has been around awhile... still SUX tho.  Imagine driving it when it happened..  :Thud:

I personally saw something similar years ago. Mid 60s Chevy pickup.  50ish mpg going over an overpass. Reached bottom where road levels off. Truck squatted and he dropped the front of his driveshaft. Same time where railroad tracks cross. Shaft dug in and it sounded and looked like a bomb when off. Rear dropped out and the truck almost flipped over. Ass over front.
Something never to forget. <Enter Chevrolet joke here>

What would've failed first for the axle to come out like that?   Front spring perch?

I bet the driver needed an underwear change after that ride. Wow.

No driveshaft evident and my guess is a blown universal in the front and the shaft pogo'd the car while ripping loose the diff and then going into the car. A guy I went to trade school with had it happen to his IH Scout coming to school one day and he said that at one time, he was looking straight down at the road. It took a while to fix that!

Yes that one has been around awhile. Classic though! I'm going to guess it was a custom 4 link welded in with a propane torch and some rust coat hangers. If it has leaf springs I can't see the rear end coming out like that past the leafs with the wheels still on.  :alan2cents:
