I don't usually rant on here but . . .

I really never sell anything on Ebay but I acquired a K&N filter kit valued at about $350 for a Ford Mustang GT somewhere about 2009 -2014 or something like that.  I had a brand new unopened box that I have advertised on Market Place, Craigslist and finally decided to put it up on Ebay to try to get rid of it.  I put up a Buy it Now price of $280 plus shipping thinking someone will get a deal and I will make some cash.

So I have someone hit the buy it now and pay with paypal.  I see the cash in my paypal but there is a hold on it???  Don't know why but I want to wait until the hold comes off so I get the cash prior to shipping.  Well then I get a note from the buyer asking if it has been shipped??  I said no, there is a hold on the money.  He indicated that his paypal is tied to a account and he has never had an issue with it.  So I read that it is paypal that put the hold and instructions say I should ship the part.

So I send an apology to the buyer telling him the issue and ship the part that day on a 2 day delivery which cost me more.  The night that I shipped it, I get a note from the buyer that says that he could not wait and bought one somewhere else . . . CRAP!  I told him that I already shipped it out and it will be there day after tomorrow. He indicates that he wants to return it.  So I still have the money and today it comes back opened . . . I am pretty mad.  Why would he open it when he had one already!!  Now I cannot advertise it brand new unopened!!   :pullinghair:

I am heading to Canada in the morning for a Wedding and when I get back, have to unload the box and make sure everything is there and nothing is missing.  I guess I don't understand why he had to open it???  He had one already so I was told . . . sorry for the rant!  Blood pressure up today!

Oh that would piss me off too.  Did he send your new one back or did he send a used one back?

Don't wait.  Open it now!  You'll be wondering about it the entire time.

He probably wanted to compare it to the one he just got and see if he wanted to ship that one back instead.   :notsure:

As an EBAY seller I can only say this..... SCAMMING RIP-OFF SOB ....... And Ebay is full of them. I'll put up $100 say he NEVER had another one...

That is all..........

RUNCHARGER

People are scum. I bet he swapped his open one for yours. Now he'll probably sell your unopened one. I know I'm cynical but I've seen it all unfortunately.

Charge the scum restocking fee, and for your time. Pisses me off to no end these people try to take advantage of other people. I sold on ebay for many years and ebay still continue to make it hard on the sellers who is making them money. I quit when you could not leave a neg feedback for the buyer.

Here, I suspect you'll need it....  I won't sell on Ebay.... Been burned to many times.... I understand PayPal wants to protect the buyer but what about the seller...... It's getting to the point you need to shoot a video of every item you pack & ship plus any item that arrives as you open it.....  Crooks, scammers & scum....

And their fees are out of hand.  PayPal rips you, then e-bag hits you also.  By the time you're done you may as well given the parts away.

Selling stuff on e-bay is like Russian Roulette. Been there.

Pay pal used to put holds on me too but that ceased a couple years ago.

Send a complaint to e-bay. Don't know if will help or not. Contact paypal also. He opened it he should pay for it.

Charge the scum restocking fee,

I don't think Ebay is allowing for that anymore...

Brads70

So does this mean your screwed with e-bay fee's and paypal fee's or do they refund them?

RUNCHARGER

I think I quit Ebay about 10 years ago. I used to buy and sell a lot there but they sort of made Paypal (and their fees) mandatory, the Canajan govt. was going to charge income tax on anything you sold (but couldn't deduct what you bought) and I got ripped off badly a few times. I haven't missed it at all.

I'm pretty mad about it .  .  I feel in my gut something is not right.  If he had one already, why open mine?  Sat with a buddy tonight having a beer and neither one of us could come up with a reason why to open it that was honest.  Only good thing is I still have his money.

Waiting for a response as to why he opened it .. if I get nothing, I may fight it.  Send the part back to him and say "this is yours" . . Thanks for purchasing . . . Still cost me money though ...
