Not a good time to buy a car in the US.

Hope he can find a storage on US side near the border for the time being. This is a better option even he has the money to pay it. This tariff thing will not last as no one on any side can afford it. It is just silly. I really don't want to see a hundred dollar oil change with me doing the work.

@blown motor  Thanks for the PSA (not the prostrate one) Murray. I just posted that video on FEBO.  Maybe it should be on that "Mopar-Eh!" forum too, if it's not there already. I'm not a member on it.

Well I see that is a Canadian tariff. How is tariffing a collectible car a 'targeted' tariff meant to get Trump's attention? That's just going to cause pain to people like those on this forum.
The sooner the 'dumbest trade war in history' is over the better. I'm sure the Canadian, the USA, and Mexican govt's all have complaints about each other. I'm sure we all have some stupid trade rules in place. Call a meeting, go into a room and discuss the problems and hash out an acceptable solution. Calling each other names and insulting each other in the media isn't going to help anyone. Especially the 51st state thing...that one really annoys me....ok, I better shut up. I'm probably breaking or close to breaking the rules...

Really feel for that guy though Almost a $50k bill?!?

It's the dumbest thing because he literally is the one that negotiated the last agreement. This is the stupidest timeline. Can't tell if it's Back to the Future with Biff or the lead up to Idiocracy

So the free trade agreement between the US, Mexico and Canada are obviously not "free" and there are tarrifs in place on certain goods - why?

Please, let's try and keep this non-political and stay on point to its original intent - making Canadians aware of the new costs involved in buying 25 year or older cars from the USA. I am so biting my tongue.

It doesn't cover everything. I think I heard about 90%. And once somebody announces tariffs on EVERYTHING...well...the free trade agreement is being violated and all bets are off.

I'm really pissed with what's going on at the moment.

Things in life always change. It's hard to plan life events when the details change so quickly though. The fellow was probably planning the purchase for quite awhile as buying a hobby car is not usually an impulse buy. Too bad the game rules went against him at the last minute.
I've made quite a few changes as to what I'm doing this year travel and purchase wise. At least I was lucky enough to have lead time to adjust things.

Looks like it eventually worked out for the guy. Things still might change come April 2, something to be aware of.

Staying out of the politics, do the tariffs apply to cars only or car parts too does anyone know?
