The very first songs that sunk into me were by Elton John and Simon & Garfunkel.

In 1972 I was 12 years old. The very first record I owned was Simon & Garfunkel's Greatest hits.
The Boxer was incredible and is a true classic.

Then later, Elton John, Honky Chateau album came out. Rocket Man. Still an amazing song.

By 1973, Deep Purple Burn came out and I saw them on 11/14/74. My first concert.

Rumor has it that @Chryco Psycho used this in the past with excellent results!   ;)

Be careful. Don't get caught drinking the Kool-Aid or believing the hype.

Im still sad about Chris Cornell.  One of the best ever for the Gen X crowd.  Or any crowd.  Here is an acoustic album that is good for every audience.  Check out his version of Billy Jean.  I think it is better than MJ's version    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3Qjk9LqDvw  I saw him perform a few nights before his death.  Another unbelievable performance.  Third time I saw him in three bands in the past year.  I seriously hope my depression gets better soon.  It is like loosing a best friend.   :crying:

I am going to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers next week.  Second time in a month. Always super incredible all the time.    https://youtu.be/4Swjg6qO3Gw

I am buying tickets for Queens of the Stone Age pre-sale on thursday.  New album coming out in August.  Here is a live performance.  I only listen to bands that absolutely rock.  No studio fakery this way.  Good jams, and some cool mellow stuff.  Give it a chance if you are open minded.  Great driving music.  Most songs have a lot of substance to the lyrics.  https://youtu.be/BgiNI217igw

Big CC fan as well along with RHCP.  I play guitar (bit of a stretch) but I really dig his (CC) acoustic stuff, his acoustic cover of nothing compares to you is truly incredible.

Maybe these songs don't relate to the wiring you do @Chryco Psycho, but so far I can relate to the these!
"Fire" from Earth wind and fire.
Or the song "Smoke gets in your eyes".
Or "You light up my life"

I've been traveling a lot over the past month or so with my son to his baseball tournaments all over Colorado and have an affinity for playing classic country with windows down driving through the mountains.  I guess it goes back to all those fishing trips I took with my dad in summers growing up.  He had an 8-track player and only 6 tapes at a time so we listened the same songs over and over.  The Highwaymen was one of his favorites.  For anyone that is familiar with country music, there is a lot of talent on this stage.
