Temperature aside, the state of NJ yesterday declared a state of emergency because they were "forecasted to be bombarded with 8" of snow".  :haha:

I was thinking with that many lights they are heating the house without a heater.

Just north of the Minnesota border along the shore of Lake Superior.

Can't compete with you guys, but a low last night of 24f and snow is pretty crazy for Houston!! The County had to borrow snow plows

I was wondering about those gulf states - cold temps, snow, freezing rain. How many have a snow brush and/or scraper.

Thats crazy for Houston.  I was a little shocked watching the weather forecast the other evening when they talked of a snow storm forecast to hit Houston and NOLA where they rarely ever get any snow.  Here in the Chicago area we've had 3 or 4 nuisance snows of 1/2 inch to a couple inches in my suburb so far this winter, which is nothing for us. Way below average  We've usually had a 4 to 6" snowstorm by now, and in bad years one that is 8-12".  So hearing that places on the Gulf coast are getting worse snows than us 800 miles north is unreal!
Our local and state road authorities are well prepared for snow, with thousands of plows and mountains of salt to dump on the roads.
It was -8° when I went out the door this morning.  I wanted to drive my truck with the great heater and heated steering wheel and such that I previously mentioned, but as I said then, I'm suspicious the battery is nearing the end of its life, so didn't want to try starting the truck this morning. My beater Dart started right up, heater eventually warmed the interior, so it was tolerable, but I sure could have used the toasty steering wheel and sauna like heat of my truck today for my commute!

Meanwhile.... with the 40-50mph winds, San Diego now has brush fires in the mountians.

it's almost T-shirt weather here in Northern VA (19 degrees) compared to those temps.  Negative 34 takes your breath away.

Media reported -29C with windchill this morning. I tapped out on a couple jobs and moved them to Monday. Gas and carb cleaner do not play nice on my hands in those temps. I'm getting soft in my old age! LOL  Replacing auger belts and cables are no problem but....
For those that don't know me, I have a small business repairing Snowblowers, lawn tractors and mowers . I'm, mobile and the work at customers homes.

Ha,ha. San Jose Del Cabo Mx right now. Going to Monterray next, eventually flying back from Puerto Vallarta. No snow at home yet which is unusual but lots of sunshine here which I am enjoying. +14 here right now at 0800k but it'll be up to +24 or so again today. I'm too old for - temperratures now, worked too many ugly nights in the cold trying to keep the Railway going.
