Good looking car for a good looking kid and good also on you Dad, for doing just what you said you were doing! A nice, easy way to get his mechanical-toes dipped into the Mopar water, so to speak!  :bigthumb:

Exactly!  Yesterday we changed the oil and belts, ordered a new radiator and hoses, and I had it on the lift walking him through the undercarriage.  We ordered take out and he got a lot of thumbs up!

Nice ride! I like where your going here

This is awesome.  Your son does look like he's about a size 15 so good thing this isn't a 360 or something wild.

Yes a practical car would make more sense, but between saving on insurance/regristration, and most importantly, owning a classic, you did right dad.

Now this rear wheel drive in the Colorado snow might be a problem but let's not talk about that.

Chryco, you are the best man.  Always looking for HP   :stayinlane:

Chryco Psycho

It is not Just HP , the car will start & run better often giving better mileage + have more power for passing etc which often = safety  :bigthumb:

nice!!! I saw that one on CList, I was tempted to buy it for the motor (don't want to mess with building up my stock block) and swap a smallblock into it. www.slantsix.org and www.forabodiesonly.com are stellar resources. as said elsewhere, the 2bbl swap is a good start for more power and better efficiency. most can take a head shave of .100 to really get the compression and power up. http://www.torqstorm.com/supercharger_kit_slant_6.html also makes a supercharger kit for the slant. it's something different than the standard a-body small block swap

what an interesting build combo too. disk brakes on a slant a-body

I'm glad you picked it up, it looks like a great starter car and he'll be unique. good on ya Dan
Growing older is mandatory...growing up is optional.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

GREAT JOB!

You hit all the marks for a first car.

2 doors
Good looking
Not too much power

For my step son I had gotten him a 1st Gen RX-7 with the smaller motor

This is super cool Dan. Congrats to him and to you for having such a cool kid

Thanks all.  It has the 2 bbl on it, just needs to be rebuilt.  The goal is to get it to be reliable and teach him the basics so he can trouble shoot most things in case something happens.  And add him to my AAA account, lol.
