Has anyone heard of an offset rear main seal? A guy told me today that you can get a rear main seal with an offset so the sealing point is slightly removed from the original sealing point. So it makes the seal against a new spot on the crankshaft.

I could see how they could move the seal groove in a new aluminum holder, but how do you move the groove in the block?
I'm sure by now most people have heard of offsetting the seal at the block/holder parting line. That doesn't change the crank contact spot though.

It would have to be a redesigned seal that goes in the same grove but the contact point is different.
