I started this restoration a while back and a divorce and a major crash while racing in fayettville nc. that almost... killed me have slowed things down. i remember a few names on this site that were on cuda/challenger and did not know there was this site for some time. anyhow, forgive me and let this be my intro here. i would like to share some of over 1k photos of this car. i hope i get it done by Christmas this year!! if all goes well , it will be at carlisle and a few other shows next year.

Beautiful job and that's one beautiful v code challenger cheers :australia:
that's a lot of hours of work ! i like the color ! thank you for sharing ! :ohyeah:
there were so many unique cars made during this time period. its not the same today. you get what they produce vs/ what you want !! i like to see the odd and special cars because they seem to capture the time of the late 60-70 s in a time capsule !! :wowzers:
found this writing on the bottom of the orig. dash. no cracks and looks like new 50 years later !! has anyone ever seen this before ?
and
this is one beautiful car, the crafstmanship is wonderful, keep up with the good work,
some progress..

just ran across this car. it is oe gold cert. notice the brake booster ?? do hemi cars use a 1 off booster ? https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0115-204293/1971-dodge-hemi-challenger-rt/
That ones a Hemi though.
i changed the post !! i thought all 71 chal. power disc brake cars got the same booster ? hemi only got the bendix-- mid ross on all others.... got it !
details . details. details.... correct booster on the way...
correct booster ?

What did you do with the brake booster that was on the car ?
which one? the hemi type?
i had 2. vic has the 3rd [hemi style] one ..... they may use it on another car . he would probably sell if you need 1. not 100% sure . i can ask?
waiting on a few parts.

he must be planning on using a sharpie ?? lol
At least on the front '71 R/T hood trim and headlight bezels, the blackout is a decal. I got a repro decal kit for mine from performance graphics. I don't recall now if the black on the rear trim is painted or a decal. My car is back in storage otherwise I'd head out to my garage now and look.
I have not posted in a while. just over 3 weeks ago Vic Calvert, the owner of Carolina Classic Restorations died suddenly at a young 51 years old... he was a very fine man. he was working with David wise on a new platinum level restoration. they were very close to completion of my car. everything was going his way! another great Mopar loss. I plan to try and honor him in some way, maybe at MCACN or Carlisle this year. posting a couple pics of vic and his son. he always took time out for him no matter how busy he was!
I saw your post over on Moparts about this. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. The pictures of him with his young son are heart breaking. Prayers for his family. RIP
Oh man that's terrible :andyangel:
Geez, that's horrible, especially since he was so young.
i just got my dash faces. i had tried to order them but was to late. the only one i could find was at classic ind. and it is awful. i got lucky and mike ross hooked me up! if anybody else is looking for one, he may have 1 or 2 left! car is almost done and will be at Carlisle this year ! the photos dont do this justice! best i can do...
Instrument Specialties is now carrying the ones Performance Car Graphics used to sell, but not sure if they are still dealing with supply issues....Those ones from Mike look great :bigthumb:
i tried to order one and they do not have them. from what i understand, they will not be making any more of them.

I heard that they have them, but don't want to sell them because they want them for their own dash restoration business.... I guess I can't blame them, just sucks for everybody else....I wish PG Classics would adjust the colours on theirs...I'm sure that's what Mike must of done on the ones he has... :alan2cents: they look good
I'm hoping that things like dash faces will be available again.
Looks like I waited too long to start gathering reproduction parts.
I have a 6bbl car to start assembly on.
the one i got is one done by Dave @ performance car graphics............

Car looks fantastic either way, I was checking it out at Carlisle, but I never seen anyone around it....
I do love stripes though :drooling:
i did not sleep for 36 hrs trying to get it finished and drove 11 hrs to get there.... was most likely sleeping! had a major drag on friday.
Looks great, I hope to see it in person someday!
a great black out photo !
That's pretty!
Are you bringing it to any upcoming shows like Moparty or MCACN by any chance?
dont have any plans as of now............
I'm planning to break in my recent acquisition trailer taking my '71 in it to Moparty next month.
Our cars have close VINs as I recall, so if you can make it to beautiful Bowling Green the cars can be reunited after likely being at the plant together almost 52 years ago!
