New to this site but I've had a Mopar since 1972 - a 71 vert 340 4 speed shaker. Here's a pic of my two Challengers. Also have my son's 71 hardtop here. I have a 74 Charger Rallye also.

I've tried a few times to buy a blue E-Body, but haven't been able to get it done yet. :( I do love Blue and someday I will own one!
My 74 Charger Rallye is also the 74 B5 blue. My son's 71 Challenger hardtop is a 94 Viper Yellow color.

 Welcome aboard from another 'vert owner.
:welcome: from SW Washington! Very cool cars!! With the drier weather you get on the East side of the Cascade's, I bet you have more opportunities to drive your cars than we do!!
We're glad you found the site- it's a great group!
Welcome to the forum! Beautiful Challengers!
Welcome to the site! Awesome cars! Looks like you will fit right in around here . . . .
A little bit more info on my cars. I ordered the 2015 Shaker Challenger in April 20015 and received it July 4, 2015. I bought the 71 in June 1972 for $1950 off the owner who ordered it. I have the original window sticker along with the build sheet and data plate. It has no power steering or power brakes with 11" drums. I'll include the window sticker copy here. Thanks for the welcome.

Very nice! Welcome to the best state in the West! If you get up to Spokane drop in for a visit!
Very nice!
Welcome, from the Wet side of the State.
Welcome from your southern neighbor! Nice looking stable. Are you going to the Woodburn show? :welcome:
Seriously? You have the window sticker and the build sheet too? :worship: Your shaker Challenger is sooooo freaking awesome! That is one special vehicle for sure. :lookatthat:

That's pretty cool for sure. There was a published list stating there were only (11) 1971 340 Shaker Challenger Convertibles.
Not exactly accurate, there were at least three more sold new in Canada that weren't included in that number.
Welcome from CO! Gorgeous Mopars! :cooldance:
I've never believed that 11 number either. The 1970/71 Challenger Shaker Registry website shows 18 shaker convertibles listed (383 and 340) in 1971. More believable number. Thanks for the compliments on the car. It's not restored but has been repaired from a couple of accidents and repainted. Driver quality. Made to enjoy, not just to look at. That's my philosophy on my cars. Here's a couple more photos. Again, thanks for the warm welcome. The first is me with the car in 1972 on the day I got it home. It cost me $90 to get the fender fixed. It got hit again several months later and had to be replaced. The second is a shot of the cars interior taken a couple of years ago.

My wife and I on the Dodge showroom floor in 2015 when they asked me to have both cars there for a photo when I picked up the 2015 Challenger.

:welcome: vary cool story behind your car.
If I ever get over on your side of the mountains I really want to see your cars in person. Fantastic cars. :ohyeah:
:welcome:

to be fair - the published numbers are for US spec. shipped cars - and none of the "numbers" we've come to use are bulletproof & are often misused :foul:
the subject car is AWESOME & well documented :ohyeah: and from OHIO!

If a Shaker vert isn't rare enough let's just add an AM cassette...... From what I understand that's the rarest radio for an E body... And what my 71 Hemi Challenger had..
 First time I've ever seen one. So rare, they had a factory stamp to point it out. :lookatthat:

I asked the original owner of the Barrelcuda why he ordered a 5 speaker, cassette deck, AM radio.......Simple answer....NFLD didn't have any FM stations at the time. :newfoundland: :dunno:
Beautiful cars When you find that car you like why ever sell it .
Welcome to the site :waving:
Welcome to the site from :canada: and, as stated, congrats on some damn fine looking cars!
You're welcome to look at my cars anytime. Just let me know in advance. I usually drive it to the Mopar show in Richland in June. I believe it's June 10th this year.

When I bought it in 72, I had not seen another like it so that's the reason I bought it. I was actually thinking about buying a B5 70 Gran Coupe with 383 - 2bbl at that time, but changed my mind and bought the 71. It was in the early 80's (maybe 1983 or so) when I saw the production numbers in a Chrysler Power magazine for Shaker e-bodies. When I moved from western Washington, I could only bring one Challenger with me. I sold my 70 Challenger R/T convertible ( burnt orange, white top and interior) 383 auto., my 70 SE 383 auto B5, and my 72 auto 318 Challenger. I kept the 71 based on rarity. I still have that Chrysler Power magazine, so the date on it is when I realized the rarity - I need to pull that issue out. I didn't realize until this post the rarity of the AM radio with stereo cassette - I never thought about it.

Another interesting point. I tried to contact the person I bought the car from - he special ordered it. I found out he passed away several years ago but I did a search and found his daughter, contacted her and sent her a photo of the car. When I bought it, Dean said he had to sell it to get a family car as his wife was pregnant with their first child. So I new the year she was born. When she got the photo, she showed her mom who remembered the car and Dean ordering it. I told the daughter the next time she's in the Washington area to contact me and she can drive the car. She said she would.

That's a great story. Love how cars bring us together and remind of us great times. :grouphug:

Beautiful cars!! I love the story behind them as well! Lots of Northwest people popping up here lately. I have an uncle that lives in the tri-city area.
Welcome from Spokane! B5 blue is one of my most favorite colors (I prefer it over other popular colors like FC7 as well). They look fun to drive. My dream would be owning a current late model alongside my 71. But my 71 needs finished first :)
Welcome from B.C. Canada.
Nice Challengers!
Like the blue color

My Hemi Challenger was originally ordered on Guam... Same deal no FM stations....
Hey 71vert340
Just found your postings
Really nice Challenger convertible with the 340 and shaker.
I am restoring a 70 Challenger A66 convertible that I owned since 1979 and stored since 1984.
Finally retired and pulled it out of storage in 2016.
Just enjoyed seeing pictures of your cars.
Nice to have all the original documentation for your car.
A great big MOPAR Welcome to you from SoCal great looking pair of Challengers. Remember "love is blue" an old Paul Muriat song. Thanks, Al
:rebelflag" :welcome:
Thanks. I'm focusing on my B5 blue Charger Rallye right now. My wife and I re-installed the dashboard this past week. I hope to get all the electrical connections hooked up and look at starting it soon. Then, finish the body work to get it painted in the spring and drive it a lot. My 2015 R/T in the pic with my convertible at the start of this thread has been in the service department of the local Dodge dealer for two weeks now. It kept showing an engine trouble with a code for cylinder #5 misfire. They replaced the coil pack, spark plug and injector and done other troubleshooting and still haven't found the cause. The old cars are much easier to troubleshoot although I've run into problems with them that make me scratch my head also. My winter project is to work on my convertible. It has a bad vibration above 50mph. Could be the 30 year old radials, driveshaft problems or worn transmission shaft bushing or something else. The fun of troubleshooting. I really enjoy this site. Again, thanks.
