Finally some time to start build thread of my customers car. He bought it some years ago from CA, factory TX9 Gran Coupe. Pretty solid body, but typical rust issues on rear quarters and trunk floor. At the moment we have sheet metal work done and body moved to the paint shop a few weeks ago.
Looks good.
Nice work! :clapping: :lookatthat:
Wow
Nice job!
It's looking good. Did you change the tail panel to '71 too?
70-71 tail panels are same, just different tail light lenses and bezels.
Wow this is gonna be a cool thread to follower! What an awesome car! :clapping:
Very nice. That's a lot of metal replacement. Excellent work. Is it an original "R" code Hemi car? Got love triple black. :)
Not an R-code ... first post he mentioned that it was a triple-black Gran Coupe ... could have been a 383 car though??
Noticed GCragtop's handle says he's in Finland? Not surprising as a lot of these E-bodies have "migrated" to the Scandinavian countries however most seem to make a new home in neighboring Sweden.
Must be hard ($$$$) as heck to build a car like that in Finland :o :bigmoney:

This was originally 318 car with TX9 exterior, white interior and white vinyl top. Owner told me that he has dreamed many years about triple black -71 Hemi Cuda, so this is one way to build a car for him.
Yup: It's painful building one in Canada I can't imagine doing it in Finland. Really have to be dedicated$
Great progress at paint shop!
I got the heater box rebuilt for this car as well. A bit different way than my own, metal parts blasted and zinc plated.
Box was pretty sad looking, so I bead blasted all three pieces and then clear coated them. All new gaskets/clips from DMT and motor done by Stephan. Turned out pretty nice.
Nice work on the heater box
Fantastic workmanship :clapping:
Body work looks good and straight! :clapping: Which you're going to need for a black car. Can't wait to see some fresh paint.
A big step forward with this project, painted today. I´m extremely happy how it turned out and I really hope that owner will like it too.
That looks good, I'm sure he'll be happy.
looks awesome, love the paint stage, all that prep finally comes together!! one step closer to puting her back together, keep the pictures coming!!
Looks great! I was excited when mine got to that stage.
Yep, it really looks great. Exterior should be painted next week.
:bradsthumb: Looking to good :bradsthumb: Nice and easy now
Awesome! :bradsthumb:
Painter has been quite busy with other things, so it took a bit longer than I thought but finally exterior is done. Should come back to my shop next week.
Nice workmanship ! Can't wait to see more progress!
Yes it looks good. That shot brings back memories for me of block sanding that body line around the wheel opening (a few times to get it nice).
More pics please. Keep the pics coming
:perfect10:  Very nice work!

I´m still waiting a body back from paint shop, painter has been super busy with other things... hopefully this week...
This Cuda will look sinister :bradsthumb:
Back in BLACK.
Vert alert!! What's up with the '70 'vert??
Surprised they wouldn't paint the roof, at least to seal it up and not create an "edge" in the paint where the trim goes
Dont worry Alan, there is full paint on roof as well. It was my idea to make it totally matte, so glue for vinyl will hold better.
Good idea. These cars will last about 10 times as long as Chrysler intended done this way.
oh....good news...to me it looked like primer with a pretty good edge where the black paint started. my bad.. :-X
Can't beat a black 'Cuda! Looks awesome.

Haven´t done anything for the convertible for awhile, need to work with black one now.
Finally some update, slowly forward...
Nice: It looks ready for the money shots.
71 looking great!
I'm building a triple black 71 rag as well.
Any chance that 70 was or is a /6 car?
This was my brother's he sold a while back.

Thanks. 70 Gran Coupe Conv. is 318 car from CA, but I will build a 383 for it.
This one will go to triple black.

:wowzers: That pic of the Hemi belongs over in the Sugar and Spice thread! :unbelievable:
What an incredible car this will be. :wowzers:
:wowzers: Now everyone say together....horsepower, torque, awesomeness, HEMI
Outstanding work! That engine is sic! :wowzers:
That car is going to be bad to the bone!!!!
:bradsthumb: Love it!
Watching...
----o00o--'(_)'--o00o----
I like it too!
Here painted.
Tank from TANKS INC with inside pump, Aeroflow teflon lines and fittings. Need to figure out a nice place for the regulator.
This is how engine/trans assembly looks at the moment, still need to wait some parts until I can install a whole package.
Looks really nice! Can't wait to see it installed and hear it running!
That looks killer
Shipping that motor to Finland must have cost a fortune :o . Last time I talked with Tim, he said a lot of his engines went over seas...

Actually it wasn´t that bad, around $1000. Shipping of my personal motor was about $400-500 but that was 6 years ago.
Finally some more progress with this one - engine/trans installed. :)
Great progress! How much a litre are you paying for 94 octane over there?
THE PERFECT JOB !!
Very very nice, !

Around 1.55 Euros / Litre. 98 octane is about 1.65-1.70
Thanks: That's about 50% higher than in Canada and we're too high. That shows the dedication Europeans show to own and drive these historic cars.

Beautiful car and workmanship. Is there going to be a white or black billboard???

Please not over that beautiful paint. Of course it's your choice though.

I agree that it would be a shame to hide that paint...it looks smooth as glass.
HEMICUDA's black AAR looks awesome with the strobes but I think the billboard would hide too much of the paintwork on this one.
Yes, I agree.
I agree, no billboards. Just let the paint show. If he wants to see how the black looks without the billboards show him some pics of my car.

:iagree: I've never been a big fan of the billboards, too obnoxious IMO. Don't cover up that gorgeous paint!
+1 for no Billboards
To each their own...
Too nice a paint to cover.
I am actually planning to take the billboards off mine soon.
**DISCLAIMER** - This thread is filled with tons of awesome.
Continuing to follow this awesome thread
I guess I'm gonna go against the grain....again. I'd put white billboards on it. I think that look is amazing. And yes it's obnoxious and way too obvious but that is exactly what the 71 Cudas were all about!
Not much done for this car lately, but got a shaker hood from paint shop this week. :)
Very nice! Can't wait to see it all together
Nothing cooler than straight black paint.
Some progress from yesterday.
Absolutely, Positively, Most Assuredly.....STUNNING. I hope you paid your painter well as that black looks dripping wet. :perfect10:
I love the smell of fresh paint in the morning!

245-60-15 on 7" rims, but I will order Polyglas tires soon.
To do a proper clone you should have belt moldings and rocker moldings

As it should be :bravo:
Dash went in a few weeks ago. No radio on this car, so I mocked up MSD ignition box under the dash too. I also got radio delete plate finished.
Nice job on the radio delete plate!
I agree: Great work.
:bigthumb:
I like details - more restored stuff from Stephan. :bigthumb:
One more HEMI showed up also for rebuild. Nothing special here, 020" over bored "stock" level build.
Nothing special ... Just a Hemi LOL
Time for update. Vinyl top installed a couple of weeks ago, also got some trim pieces installed. Steering column restored too and went in.
Seats came from upholstery shop. Butyl tape and primer purchased so glasses should be installed pretty soon.
Looking really beautiful :drooling:
vinyl top looks great! Nice and smooth like the paint!
Engine fired up a very first time yesterday evening, it sounds great! Still waiting some parts from paint shop...
Shaker bubble grill openings... :barf:

I have a lot of respect for you guys overseas restoring American muscle to this level, needing to have all your parts coming from the US. Anything you need Pasi, as always, I'll do anything to help you out brother. :bigthumb: Did the gas cap show up yet?
Any video of the engine running? :drooling:
Thank you Mike! Perhaps some day I can visit a high end shop like you have to see how you guys do detailing etc. I do work with cars mostly just weekends in my two car garage, if all goes well I might start to build a new shop.
Yep, pretty much all parts comes from US, so it will take always some weeks/months to get packages here.
Got info from Post Office that I should have gas cap by the end of the week. :bigthumb:

Had a day off from my daily work, so I visited at tire shop. I think now it looks nice with correct tires. Interior is almost done too.
Goodie package also arrived from Mike at BEA - Thanks Mike!
A short step forward... and some back.
Grille installed now, this is factory unit. Argent color is custom mixed here, I also polished trim pieces and painted plastic inserts and detailed them with silver.
I wasn´t happy for the finish of front bumper so it´s back at paint shop now.
I´m looking for correct bolts to attach hood release lever too, so if you have any info where to get them, let me know.
Great looking car. I bet the owner is excited to receive it

I had a triple black out in a sun a very first time since I started this project about three years ago. Still some small things to do...
Still looking for a correct bolts for hood release lever - let me know if you have a few of them available. Waiting also sun visor brackets, but they should be here pretty soon.
I ordered a new shaker bubble and need to say if you guys want a quality piece contact Tom Pellegrino, bubble from him is extremely nice!
Yes: That bubble looks greats.
