Is this a little steep for a AAR?
http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sales/inventory/active/1970%20Plymouth%20Cuda%20AAR/135849
Not really for a four speed rubber bumper car if it's all original and documented. :alan2cents:
I wish them luck. Might be a tad on the high end, but it has a lot to like if it's the real deal.
Just wondering if anyone knows what was the highest selling price for a perfectly restored AAR or T/A??
RK is usually pretty ambitious on pricing.

What he said. I was there and watched it cross the block.
Plus A 10 % buyers premium.

Oh....So now Tim can enjoy having "seller's remorse" from selling it a couple of years ago, and now he can enjoy "buyer's remorse"... :haha:
I would pay attention to what Tim does though, I'm pretty sure he has a good understanding of the market and where it's going.
Oh.....and what's a B Body guy like you doing in an E Body place like this

That's what I heard so it would be good if someone could verify the story.
I thought I might learn something here, plus it gives me an opportunity to use the board which has quite a few great features!
Dave
Someday I have to see Tim's collection. Has anyone seen it in person? Is it as impressive as everyone says it is?
Yes that story is true! I saw the car on the block on T-V and the announcer said he wanted it back.

I would love to see it too...I met Tim and his wife at MCACN back in 2015....super nice couple ! :drinkingbud:
I too have to see that collection. Just the 71 Chargers would be enough to keep me enthused.
Road trip!!!! :stayinlane: A big ol E-Bodies.org road trip. :D

I'm in, can I hitch a ride with you Alan! :)
I've been there and it's really a great museum. Some really great cars and atmosphere is super cool. My AAR is identical to the one he has and he met me there on a closed day so I could take some reference pictures of it for my restoration. Not long before I got there he had found a 70 sublime Hemi road runner. It was a survivor and rough just in the right places. It's an old dealership with a parts department and it's stocked full of NOS parts. Super cool guy with a dream garage.
As far as the AAR in question, I think it's right on par.
Correct me if ìm wrong, but the Trunk Floor Pan is incorrect for this car.
The Access Plates for the Rear Shocks should be on TOP of the towers and not facing the back (I know mine are and that's the only place I have ever seen them).
Wasn't that only on 71 Cuda`s ?
You're correct, floor is wrong, most likely a replacement :alan2cents:
Hmmmmm, if they made a mistake like that using a 71 floor pan on a 70, I wonder what else they did wrong or took shortcuts on...
Oh well, buyer beware..... :o
I LOVE red AARs...... :drooling:
Nice car, but definitely an oversight on the trunk floor. Possibly the builder was more interested in better access to the shocks than originality. :dunno: Just a possibility.

There is a chance it was done by a shop that does all makes and models....these types of shops (mostly) do nice work but impossible for them to know all the ins and outs of all the different cars...
and the tach doesn't work....
$129.000 for a Partial matching Engine & Trans VIN (WTF is that supposed to be, it either matches or it doesn't) is what would scare me off.
But if they can get that for a non numbers matching car , it's better for those of us that have matching numbers, IMHO........

ding ding ding - that's likely the answer - and why I shipped my car to Canada for restoration. :bigthumb:

Perhaps the wording is off and they should have said Matching Partial VIN. They show pictures of the partial VIN on the engine and transmission in the ad. The only Mopars that I am aware of with a complete VIN on the engine and transmission are early 1969. The 1968's I have seen are partial and the 1969's are partial beginning in January 1969. As far as I know the rest of the years are partial VINs.
there's quality driver AAR's and T/A's for sale all over for 50 to 75k
YOU HAVE TO LOOK FOR THEM.
buying from a dealer your goin to pay a huge markup.

Joe: "Hey Bob do deep and I'll throw the football"
Bob: "Why do I need to go deep?"
Joe: "This might be your last chance to get a sucker at this price for your AAR"
:haha:
As Kathy posted; There are really nice AAR's out there for $30-$50K less then RK's price.
For that dollar amount, the car should be totally correct, with everything in place and functioning as it should and have full documentation.
These cars trade between collectors and flippers looking to turn a quick profit, not for someone to drive and enjoy.
It is a nice car, and for that money will be put into storage until the next flip or next person comes along who thinks they can make an extra $20K or more on the car.

You are correct, I did start to change it to your numbers when I saw your post, but thought it prudent to check it out one more time ( I have a subscription to Hemmings-so I get their ads early)
When I saw that my original post (which was copied directly from the Hemming's Ads) had the correct numbers, I put it back the way it was)
