Title: Cuda Cup Holder
Post by: CudaHead on March 28, 2019, 02:03:35 PM
I bought a cup holder from:
https://www.cupholdersplus.com/mopar-double-drink-holder.html (https://www.cupholdersplus.com/mopar-double-drink-holder.html)

I thought it was too much so I cut it down and made this. I used Velcro to keep it in place on the console.

Great idea. I can't drive without my coffee!

For those of you without a center console or any place to place a cupholder I use a Zojirushi insulated coffee mug.. Keeps stuff very HOT and doesn't spill.. It's a step up from the Hydroflask I used to swear by :)

Does that sweat, I'd be worried about build up of water on the console.

That is an expensive cup holder.

I have just installed it, but I have not tried it yet. That is a good question that may have to be addressed. I'm trying to be non-invasive so that may be a problem.

This may be the answer to the drips at the bottom of the cup holder:

Innovative although expensive workaround to not destroying the center console
Will subscribe to see where this goes thanks

Do people actually drink a lot in their cars ? :dunno:
Back when I was doing a lot of car shows...I remember I had a "zero food or drink" rule in my cars...used to drive my girlfriend nuts.... :haha:

I sure do! My kid's car seats have built in cupholders for me. That said, at any given time I'm hauling milk if my son is with me.  :stop:

Carpet is cheap if something got out of hand! :burnout:

Posted before. Dakota console squeezes between the seats.
Not mounted just pull out for shows.

I'm still working on this. It was interfering with the shifter so I changed it.
It is now much smaller and I used an existing screw location to hold it in place (with a longer screw).
Not perfect yet but getting better. I tighten down the screw as much as I could but it still wants to swivel on the screw. I added Velcro to keep it from moving. I'm thinking I need is add a rubber bottom so that it will not move.
Close, but not there yet.

This gives me a great idea.

Will have to give it a try. I really just need the cup and not the bridge in between the two.

Hmmm.

Round Three.    Oh So Simple.
All it took was a big washer with a small hole and a longer (2") screw.
Works great.
All I need now is one of these:

I updated with a beveled head screw so that it was not sticking up much.
Next I will get felt fabric for the bottom and the inserts from Weather Tech (on order) and I will be done.

That's the same one I have. Cheap, works great, and slides right out if you don't want it showing at car shows. Also holds my garage opener and stereo remote.

Very nice, simple and effective.

I plan on getting one of the Weather Tech Phone Holders that fit in cup holders. Then I can use Maps app to direct me to wherever.

It's finished.
I bought some black felt fabric at Hobby Lobby. I cut it to fit the bottom and glued it in place.
I got the CarCoasters from WeatherTech. Please note, you get four in the box. Two are smaller than the other two. Use the one that fits. In my case it was the smaller one.
I have not ordered the phone holder for it, because I found some thing interesting I want to try first.

I'll let you know if it works for my Cuda.
