Hey guys,
If you don't have the luck to come here in Normandy to visit the D-day, here's the opportunity to see few pictures i will take when i move around.
Today i went to the famous "Pointe du Hoc"
The weather wasn't very good but it was probably close to the weather on the 6th June 1944 when the Rangers landed and climbed the cliff.
If you are interested in, let me know, the next post should be during the ceremony of the 4th of July at the cemetery of Colleville Sur Mer.

Thanks for the offer! If I could get momma to leave the US I'd love to take you up on it... Unfortunately she doesn't like airplanes... I fly monthly but momma wants nothing to do with it.....
Nice! Going there in 2 weeks. Staying in Omaha Beach, gonna miss 4th of July though.

Nice!!
You will have a lot of sites to visit there!
It depends of the time you stay here, but there are also nice things to visit on the british sector or Utah one.
If you need information don't hesitate, there is a link to my Facebook page in my profile. We could talk by messenger. :bigthumb:
Thank you for the pictures.
I have visited twice.
Incredible experience!
Thanks for sharing those awesome pictures. What a great experience for all. My dad landed and ended up going thru 2 other major offenses thru the war. Unbelievable history for everyone. I would love to get over there in honor of him plus to see it all.
Thank-You Husk for those excellent pictures! I couldn't imagine looking up at a MG42 barrel from some of those hardened positions. Would love to visit there some day.
Hey guys & girls!
I went out this afternoon before the end of the holidays, and as every year i made a stop at the American Cemetery of Omaha beach (Colleville Sur Mer).
I took a few pictures in order to share with you.
I also visited the Overlord tank museum for the kids. Nice museum, with good displays and nice vehicles.
Finished the visit with an Ice Cream at Arromanches les Bains where the artificial harbor was built before beeing destroyed by a tempest.
A lot of pics, i hope you enjoy as much as me.

I have visited Normandy twice. Both visits I stayed in Bayeux. Train ride from Paris to Bayeux is 2.5 hours.
Car drive from Bayeux to Omaha Beach is approx 20 minutes.
:wrenching: Thanks for the info. I thought it was closer for some reason. Would like to visit someday; having been a Tanker in the Army would like to visit the museum.
Great photos!!! Thank you for sharing. :thankyou:
Bayeux is perfect for the hotel. From there you can visit the american and the english beaches!
This museum is pretty recent, built few years ago. It wasn't very nice at start but the collection is really nice now.
If you want to see tanks, the best place in France is: tank museum of Saumur
The biggest collection in France with 800 tanks and armored vehicles from all around the round from 1914 to nowadays. With very rare tanks like German Tiger 1 and 2 for exemple.
2h40 from Paris by train.

Then if you make it over to France, along with Normandy, you should go to the Loire Valley. The Musée des Blindés is very impressive from the reviews of my friends. I have not been, but plan to one day. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g187199-d489046-r251948038-Musee_des_Blindes-Saumur_Maine_et_Loire_Pays_de_la_Loire.html
Thanks for the great pictures, Sure would like to go there, I did a reforger to germany in 83 with the first cav, went into Holland then back into germany. I was on a m60a3 tank. I own 3 halftracks, and other ww2 vehicles. Go to g503 forum, website. they would like to see your pictures. also I have owned alot of mopars. PM me if ok :burnout:
:wrenching: I started on a M60A3 tank then transitioned to the new M1A1 Abrams in 85 then went to Germany and competed in The Canadian Army Trophy with Northag team. Got into tanks when I saw Kelly's Heros and Oddball...
Wow a tanker here. My unit got 150 M1 in 85 and was the round out for the Ist cav. They are a bad azz tank. Then later go out of tanks, went to hueys, then blackhawks. You will have to come up for a visit, not far from you.
Nice pictures! I saw some of those museums in June. Check out my great picture of the sunset at Omaha Beach. The american cemetary was very sad, we walked around for hours reading the names and their age at the crosses, most of them were just kids, never even got to start their lives. The contrast was overwhelming, beautiful nature right by the ocean, and all those graves....
Going back to Normandy for sure.
This is a bucket list item for me. I'd like to visit the sites that followed the war as not many knew the war started for the US in North Africa and the initial skirmish actually wasn't against the Germans. Then travel into Italy and then over to the invasion beaches of France. I should have done it awhile ago as it's not as safe in the North African Muslim countries as it used to be. Sure this is a shortened list of sites I could visit (Poland, Belgium, Eastern Front, etc) but I think I pull the above trip off in one go.
Thanks Husk for posting this.
You re welcome Hp_cuda!
It's a pleasure to share with all of you.
Nice picture Kevin!
You are lucky the weather was great when you came here.
:wrenching: Was stationed in Garlstadt West Germany with the 2nd Armor division Hell On Wheels then went to Ft. Stewart to the 3/69th Armor.
Hey guys!
It's time for me to update this topic with the 75th D-Day anniversary!
As happens every year it's the time here to celebrate the anniversary of the D-Day and of the battle of Normandy.
All over Normandy Veterans come one more time.
Every year there are less and less and that's really emotive and sad. These heroes have now more than 90 years old.
Be sure that here, we don't wait every 5 years to celebrate them. But as for the 65th 70th...more of them have the possibility to come from all over the world!
As i am not a fan of the official celebration with politicians that i don't carry in my heart, i used to focus on small events.
This 6/02, there was a nice event near Carentan with some Tanks of The Armored Tank museum of Saumur.
I uploaded few videos on Youtube..
Nice M10 Tank Destroyer, fast and handly!
One of the last German Panther still driveable
Thanks for posting. I fear our younger generations don't realize the reality of what was happening back then.
Awesome photo's--thanks for sharing. My Dad was there in WWII. He was one of the lucky ones who ended up staying on the ship. He had planned to go back an visit but passed away before he could make the trip.

My maternal grandfather was in a Canadian tank in Italy in the war and seeing those Panthers and Tigers, its amazing that he got back in one piece. Nice to see, restoration-wise, that someone with the bank account ot do it, has!
Thanks guys!
Yesterday i had the chance to meet a veteran from British N°4 Commando at Benouville. He landed the d-day at Colleville sur Orne (Now colleville Montgomery) and fought hard in the sector. 96 years old.
What a great man! Love these moments even if they are always too short!

Let us never forget.
It's hard for me to fathom that only 2 generations later we have the re-emergence of Antisemitism in Germany.
