Horn not working

Hello
I tested the Prestolite horns that came with my 71 Challenger. I used a wire to the positive and grounded the body. The high Horn works...but low horn doesnt. Not even sparks or any sound from it. How can I repair it? The two halves of the body seem to be riveted.. dont want to destroy it. Any suggestions? I sprayed some WD 40...and left it to sit.

Yep, that's just what a "true" restorer does.  We lost a true professional when Mike Ross was banned from this site. he had no room for "wanna bees", like him or not, he's always consistent and had no problem calling out "BS" and would help anyone. I'm in a privileged position to have my shop 25 minutes from Mr. Ross, every time I go there, he has time for me and will answer any question I ask him and help me with anything. Most of the time "NO CHARGE".

Over the years I've managed to accumulate a bunch of horns- both Sparton and Prestolite. The instructions posted above are likely exactly what you need.  There aren't many parts to a horn.

Earlier this year I sent off two very dead Prestolites that were original to my car to Gary at The Horn Works in Wisconsin.  https://www.carhornrestoration.com/

Turnaround was fast, quality was very good, and I swear my horns were never as loud as they are now.  I think he's got a bit of a deal going on for December as well.  I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

Thank you for the suggestions. Will try with the WD40 trick...and if not enough, will try to disassemble it. Had already done this on a fities Mopar horn, and was pretty easy. Didnt know they were built the same way.

Following the suggestions, I drilled the rivets and opened the horn. It was all rusted inside...cleaned the contact and the plate...tried to connect to a battery, and it worked. Drilled some holes where the rivets were, and put some self tapping screws. Half an hour later, everything is put back together....waiting for some paint.

I inherited 71 Cuda from my grandfather. I had it towed to my house two years ago, and I never had time to look at it till now. There are many issues with a car. One thing I hoped to solve on my own was the horns not working. In past, I successfully replaced my pickup's stock horns with the ones I bought from hornblasters. Cuda's horns sure look rusty. But the wiring seems to be solid all the way from horns to the firewall. I touched both horns with hot wires from the battery and they both made noise. I guess the next thing to check is the relay. Where is it located?
