The TTI headers are real close to the transmission send and return lines.  One is  actually touching. I was  going to bend it slightly out of the way,  but how concerned should I be? Should  I stress about  getting x  amount of  space between them?

Also the oil  filter is kinda close. I am not using the right angle adapter. The Wix label melted a little. Concerning?

Big block or small block?

I have plenty of clearance on my small block using K&N filter. I also rerouted the trans cooler lines to add more separation with the header tube.

Small block. I  got about an inch  or two. Just going off memory. But it did melt the plastic wix wrapper. LOL. I trust it is fine since many  people use that setup but thought I'd ask. The tranny lines  probably need to move.

Thanks

Hello guys.   I'm installing new sb tti headers (after some 40 years of Hooker #5115 headers).  My automatic transmission lines are being hit by the one header tube that comes closest towards the oil pan.  Is this common?  Bending doesn't seem possible.  Suggestions?   T/Anks ahead.    I've also just installed the Borgenson ps box in place of my T/A ps box... and will use long arms.    Getting ready for MoParty this coming September!!!

Post a pic if you can...But you need to gain some clearance no matter what...Even a wooden wedge {wrapped in cloth} drove between the header and lines to bend them could be an option...

Yeah definitely need to get some separation between the header and oil line. What you have now is effectively a conductive heat exchanger between the header (~1500F degrees) and the trans oil (~200F degrees). The trans oil will continue to pull heat from the header. Obviously not what you want. Any gap is good. Then some high temp sleeving around the oil lines to mitigate the convection heating (heat transfer via the air) between the header and trans oil.

All -- Ended up making newly shaped trans lines that run along the driver's side frame rail and between the Borgenson steering box and frame rail... back and across to the trans.  A really good pro road racing friend did this for me.  I have a large separate trans cooler up front which is the only cooler I'm using. The car is used dominantly for autocross and road course events.    Moparty... here I come!
