What is the story with air cleaner pie tins?
Are they going to be available any time soon?
They were never worth $80...much less $200!

Price has been up for several years, I don't know why
It appears they are available or will be soon
P4529083 appears to be orange  P4529084 is red for earlier models

I know of at least three different retailers/manufacturers who have been claiming to be having them ready for production and that has been going on for two to three years.  Not sure if it is a licensing issue as the tin itself is the same for all of the years and engine configurations, the variation being the graphics.

I have seen the NOS 440 red or orange Magnum pie tin bringing $350 to $400.

Frank Mitchell had some of the blanks that had never been cut in his inventory.  Just square sheets of metal that they formed and silk screened the graphics.  With modern technology, you would think the process would sell itself with the current demand.

There is not a huge market for these pie tins. plus, there are numerous artwork variations. it is no surprise some websites are collecting your orders, until there is enough to trigger an actual production run for a given tin.  since the cars run fine without this cosmetic part, we can wait until they make the ones we want available.  you may have time to find a used cheaper one, too. perhaps with a couple scratches and wear.

You're not alone , lots of folks agree those pie tins have been overpriced for a while. Hopefully, availability will improve and prices will come down with time.

I've heard two stories from known venders

1. Original company that was producing them went out of business and is tied up in litigation.

2. Ma Chrysler made the resto company destroy the dies, and there isn't replacements yet

I can't believe the pie tins are still or ever were trademarked, I'm guessing it's more of a will and a way.

Don't blame mommy chrysler.
:(
I'm dubious the shape of the pie tin can be copyrighted or patented.  That said, even the artwork doesn't bear a copyright symbol.  These cars, and the enthusiasm to restore them, can only help Ma Chrysler.

but the chapter 11 protection and litigation, yea, that sounds plausible.  bummer.

I have an unused repop orange 383 pie tin bought from Roseville a couple years ago.  You can have at my cost $60 plus the shipping.  Message me if interested.
