I'm guessing it's a manual tranny.  that's harder to do without a clutch to drop.

Torque is how far you go through the wall.    :D

Transbrake or even the correct converter.

Correct convertor absolutely will. I was on the cusp of lifting the tires at launch in my small block Aspen before I sold it. Another summer of tuning and it would have pulled the front tires.
