Clutch return spring thoughts

Okay I have a Quicktime small block bellhousing, a McLeod super Street pro diaphragm style clutch with a mechanical linkage from Brewers performance. I removed the over the center spring because, well that's what I read not to use the over the center spring with a diaphragm style clutch. Honestly it worked just fine with the over the center spring in place and the clutch pedal fully retracted. I kind of question why everybody says remove it. But anyway it's removed now. The small spring that attaches between the fork and bellhousing isn't strong enough to retract the clutch pedal all the way up. It pulls back on the fork just enough so the throw out bearing is barely not making contact with the diaphragm. So I was thinking of using one of those universal clutch return springs on the clutch pedal. I'm also thinking about reinstalling the over the center spring. Curious to what other people thoughts are?

These cars were designed to use 3 finger B&B type clutches Not Diaphragms , If it works fine with the overcenter spring put it back in but often the diaphragms don't have enough pressure to push back against it at RPM . I would put the OC spring back in .
I agree that the linkage  should not be resting against the release brg

I got a spring from Ace and it works perfect.
