Not sure if this is correct or not.  Looks like a rubber or plastic wedge.  If it is correct, what's it called and where can you find one?

Headjam

A rubber wedge that holds the windshield up so it doesn't sit on the metal channel directly.  :bigthumb:

What is the purpose of the three holes?  Does the rubber wedge cover them up?

I believe the holes are there to provide the rubber block something to dig into and not slide

Looks like sheet metal screws went in them.   There was a rubber block that spaced the windshield but it was in a different location. Not sure what went here but open holes in this area would be a disaster with water.

I thought the same regarding screws used for mounting but the pic I posted of my car doesn't show any.  With that said, the windshield was replaced early in the cars life so I have no idea what's correct.  I'm grateful you posted the question though. Thank you.

My car has three convex dimples in this location. There are no holes in that spot on my car. This is a 71 cuda.  There were no holes there on my 70 cuda and 70 challenger either.

Interesting. I don't have any holes in my '70 Barracuda either. early LA build if it matters
The only thing flat earthers fear, is sphere itself.

'70 Barracuda B5/B5 225 /6 3spd ... about as bare bones as they came .... now in 4spd flavor

I believe they were punched/stamped  from the other side  just as a grip for the aforementioned  rubber wedge to support the glass. No screws. I welded mine up when I repaired a small amount of rot/rust in the windshield channel.

Passing a grinder wheel or sandpaper disc over them during the resto would definitely result in an open hole..I'm betting that's what happened and it wasn't caught..

And I have an early build cuda it also has no holes

I believe you are 100% correct. No screws, just for grabbing the rubber block.

Agree with others, there is a rubber wedge to hold the windshield up slightly off the steel that goes there. Also agree they should be dimpled and not have holes. Although holes would drain into the fresh air/wiper linkage plenum and not the interior. If they are holes, make sure there is no exposed metal with them or they will rust and create larger problems.

When I was repainting the engine bay in my Challenger, I did my best to spray the interior of that plenum with rust convertor and sealer as far to each corner as I could spray using an extension straw. You also can access it through a large gap in the corners that is under the fender, but the fenders have to come off to get to it.

anyone have a source for the rubber wedges?
