Answer seems obvious

I ran a Holley 750 DP with a Pro Form main body with no choke provisoin for a lot of years. I recently switched to a Demon 750 with a choke but may switch back to the Holley this year. Not having a choke is only a minor inconvenence when starting up as you have to pump the gas for a minute and for me it was no big deal. I even start mine a few times over the winter on  relatively "warm" days which is around 40 degrees for where I live and it takes a bit of feathering the gas to keep it running the first 30-60 seconds but again no big deal IMO.

Do you happen to know what model Eddy or what CFM? How often did you have it rebuilt too?
No problems in 13 years sounds great to me.

I had a 318 with 360 heads and 340 cam that I used a Holley 600 on. Worked very well.

I dont think I could fire NIKKI up w/o a choke. Granted I'm running a manual not elec. Maybe keeping my foot in it for 5 mins?

I have an automatic choke on mine, with an Edlebrock Performer 750cfm. I drive mine a lot, in all temps and can't imagine not having a choke. I suppose if you don't drive it much, or only when it is hot, you might be ok without a choke.

yes, but why would u want to??  Other than the small problem of setting it up properly and i guess about $50 more for an electric choke...why would u want to?    Im running an edlebrock 1406 and have zero problems with my electric choke.

hmm, not sure your question. I have an electric choke, you have an electric choke, and we both have no issues with them.  :dunno:

So find a carb that has a choke AND doesn't have a choke?
It's an either or question / answer

Almost all Holley 4150 style "performance" carbs do not have chokes or even provisions for one, it is for better air flow which equals more HP. I understand most of us who just street drive our car don`t need or care about that extra few HP or torque numbers and want easier start up so it makes sense to have a choke. For me it isn`t a big deal to sit and feather the throttle for a minute before it idles with no choke.
