71 Cuda Rallye Gauges

I recently bought a set of Rallye gauges from Instrument Specialties. They were very nice. However, the reset knobs are through the lens. I called them and explained that the knobs should be through the bezel on a 70-71. They are disagreeing with me. Has anyone ever seen a 71 Cuda with the reset knobs through the lens?  Also, it does have an 8k tach.

NO...if fact I've seen 1972 cars with leftover 71 dashes in them, so there's no chance a 71 would have a 72-74 style dash in my opinion

Agreed . . . no factory '71 Cuda would have the reset knobs coming from the front of the actual gauge pods on a rallye cluster.  Both reset knobs would be offset from the gauges and protrude through the woodgrain fascia piece.

@anlauto, what about 71 Cuda seats?  Would a billboard car have metal hinge covers or molded hinge covers?

The seats were another mid production run change. Early 71 cars had the metal covers, while later cars had the molded hinge cover/ chrome release button type seat 
I don't know when in the model year things changed.

Looking at some 71's I've done that had their original seats, the best I can do is Nov 70. = Metal.... Feb 71 = Plastic

first I've heard of billboards being discontinued
earliest I have a 'cuda pic of tag & sheet w/V6_ is 820-SPD
latest I have 'cuda pics of tag & sheet w/V6_ is 628-SPD

more "'tales" to explain why someone's car doesn't have them on the tag   
along with the "BS" line: factory stopped installing them because they were too difficult & shipped them in the trunk for the (fully capable) PDI guy at the dealership to install them
factories put wood-grain front-to-rear on wagons but the "billboard" was too difficult - yeah, that makes sense ....... NO

AFAIK - all '71 E-body "rallye gauges" have 8K tachometer & the reset knobs thru the wood-grain

I actually couldn't find a 1971 e-body interior picture with the reset knobs thru the lens
...... but here are 2 unrestored 1971 HEMI Challenger R/Ts with reset knobs thru the wood-grain"    one of them has <1,800 miles

I guess I was thinking since the factory wasn't applying the billboards that they weren't available. Thanks for clarifying.

Also, back to the dash, here is a picture of the dash from the ad. I called them and they insist it correct. I thought Instrument Specialties was a reputable company. I'm going to try and return it. Bummer!!

So my 71 has an SPD of 701, which is 7/1/71?  So it's a later build?

YES, 1971 cars were build from Aug 1970 to July 1971
