Not sure how easy it is to find plain old resistors these days with Radio Shack defunct but if you like the look and color of the green LED unit, consider putting a small resistor in series with it to reduce its brightness.  Or a small potentiometer (you  could even have its knob installed and accessible from inside the console storage area) to make it adjustable.

FYI: Radio Shack is still around, online and there are a few stores. I was just in a store in Claremore, OK last December!

I didn't think of it earlier but Amazon has both resistors and potentiometers available.

Brad for the win!
I ordered an "indicator" LED and it looks good.
Pic is in complete darkness.
I haven't permanently mounted yet, but will.
Appreciate all the input.

I missed the actual switch used to trigger the light.  What was used?

No switch, it will stay on whenever the lights are on.
There's no bleeding of light, so it won't be visible whenever the console door is closed.

Same as the ashtray light
