PG Classics says they are gone for good from them; not sure if anyone else ever re-popped them.

Has anyone heard about the possibility that one of the other Mopar parts places might pick up repopping these?

Thanks

Cuda Cody

They were re-popped at one point, right?  Someone has the details and info.  Is this something that David Radcliff at Mancini Racing might know?  If I were you I would reach out to him.

I know its been quite a few years but yes, PG Classics made them.  They still have one for B-bodies but said that they won't be making any more E-body sets.  I don't absolutely need one but I'm 6'5" and a bit larger than I was when the Challenger was my daily driver, and the six-way rails are supposed to provide a little more clearance.  I couldn't afford them (I think $650 or so) back when they were still advertised.

I haven't seen an OEM set for sale in quite a while so don't know what they might be going for if one were to show up.

I'm tall too, though I've shrunk a bit as I get older.  I used to be 6'4 or 6'5. 6'2 or 6'3 now.
I've never had headroom issues in my hard top Challengers. In fact I've heard it said that the six way seat assembly raises the seat an inch or two higher, decreasing headroom! My convertible does have a six way seat.  Headroom is rarely an issue for me when I drive it!  No problems on the rare times I'm driving it top-up either though.  I think convertible tops have a little more headroom anyway, no headliner and such up there.
There's variations in human "tall" though, some have more of their height in their trunks, others it's more in their legs.  I do sometimes have trouble finding shirts that stay tucked in so I guess that means I'm tall in my trunk.
My 2 hardtops have manual transmissions.  My T/A always was uncomfortable to drive for me as my leg by my knee hits the steering wheel when I'm using the clutch. My 71 is ok.  How can that be?? The T/A has standard vinyl buckets and the 71 has leather seats.
The leather seats must have a bit smaller profile in the bottom and the driver sits lower is all I can theorize.
If you do end up being uncomfortable driving your Challenger because of being tall, seat bracket relocation kits like Year One sells will probably be your best bet to help, instead of a six way seat. If you see Ryan Brutt around like at the swap meet next Sunday, talk to him about how he's adapting his 71 Challenger to be comfortable.  He's big and tall!

I have a six way seat and to be honest, you would get better room by using the Year One seat brackets. The six way actually raises the seat slightly and this will definitely raise the seat and being 6.5 will put you sitting taller. Unless I missed something, it sounds like you could use the leg  room better than raising the seat.  :alan2cents:  :alan2cents:

I don't recall issues with headroom 30 years ago when I was last able to drive it (and 38 or so years since it was a regular driver).  The seat cushion was rather compressed and I had a flat seat cushion that didn't make up the lost heighth.  My '71 has the 'deluxe' vinyl seats (H6XW).  Its a console auto.  I remember minor issues with legroom (and thanks, I have heard of and read about the relocation brackets that Year One sells), a little more with the steering wheel being a little to large and too close.  I've got a Tuff wheel now, and one of the shorter Tuff wheel cans to at least try, if it doesn't move the wheel too close to the dashpad lip.

I'm also considering, based on many years ago posts, looking at seats from the OmniRizon/Shadow/Sundance/Shelby Charger class of cars.  Supposedly they are bolt in compatible, have some bolstering and better cushioning.  But the info about leg and head room changes are inconsistent, and none of them would really look 'right' though I think the Shelby buckets redone in an appropriate white vinyl would look acceptable.  But its just a thought, and mainly only if at my current state, the factory seats (which will be rebuilt and reupholstered) just are not working.

Ergonomics is a science and I can't claim to be an expert in it, other than to say for car seats, I don't think there's a one size fits everyone optimum.
I bought my only "luxury car" in the early 2000s, a Lincoln LS, but despite its luxury power leather seats, if I spent much over an hour in it on a road trip, I'd get leg cramps.
I bought a new Challenger R/T in 2009 and it was the most comfortable car I've ever driven.  In 2010 I drove it 8 hours up to Mopars in the Park and upon arrival in Minnesota I felt like I could drive another 8 hours easily. Leg cramps, what's that?
I eventually decided I was tired of and felt guilty driving my "new" car to shows more than an hour away because I don't feel comfortable driving my vintage Challengers very far on highways, so I bought a roomier Magnum for a cool vintage longer hauler a few years ago. Unlike the vintage Challengers, it feels right at home driving 75-80 mph in nutty Chicago area highways, which is great, but despite being big inside, its sofa like front seat isn't super comfortable for long hauls.  A local guy drives his Magnum in Power Tour every year. Kudos to him, I couldn't do that.  His car is black and I don't think it's got AC either, even if I could bear hours in the seat, I couldn't bear hours in a black car in hot summer days either!
Bottom line is your results may vary.  Everyone's different and not only that, we get less tolerant as we age.  I could have drove just about anything from coast to coast when I was 20, windows down no AC, even if it was 100 degrees out.
I sure couldn't do that now.
So it's a dilemma building a car and doing mods in hopes they'll make the car comfortable. Unless you can spend some behind the wheel time in a car set up like you're planning, you won't know if it actually works for you until your car is done, which is a bad time to find you'd guessed wrong with your plan!

True but... I can always sell a six-way for a good amount of money, I can try a decent set of Shelby or equivalent seats for $2-300 dollars to see how they work if the factory seats don't.  And sell them off again if they don't work (in which case the factory seats remain and I deal with them).
