Hi everyone,

What direction does the cowl screen go? I have seen them both ways. If the opening goes towards the engine then it will be forced up by pressure and help seal?

Second is my cowl seal did not come with the clips installed. Is there any trick to make this easier? Do you measure and install the clips outside of the car or install the clips and pull the rubber along and attach it to the clips as you go?  Maybe measure and make on a string and transfer over to the rubber? Any tricks?

The opening goes towards the engine in my opinion. Can't help you with the clips, I buy the ones with the clips installed. :alan2cents:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

I would get another that has the clips installed.I have no idea how you would secure the clips to the rubber.

The clips just push through the rubber and the tabs get pushed over. Unfortunately I don't have the old one to measure . I'll just install the clips them pull the rubber along.  That's for confirming the direction

:iagree: Opening goes toward front of car. Don't forget to seal the two holes (one on each of the ends of the seal). I used 3M molding tape (3/4" wide). Factory used something similar.

I placed the clips in the holes but did not push them in all the way. Taped the one end of the rubber and made my way around imprinting on the rubber. Then once the spots were marked I installed the clips on the rubber while it was on the bench as it was way easier. It fits pretty good. Its a little tight on the one but hopefully it will settle down once the hood it closed and  engine heat gets to it.

Detroit Muscle Tecnologies sells the seal with the clips already on if you wanted it that way.

Unfortunately the ones I had were from soft seal

@headejm what is the purpose of placing the squared tape over those holes? I'm curious as the cowl vent screens are plenty of a hole(s) to have, so what benefit are there for covering the holes under the cowl strip?

I've been trying to prevent hot air inside my car. I did this to my seal. My thinking is that it will keep the seal from flattening out. Know idea if it works, but it don't hurt.  :D

For reference on seal direction.
