I ended up making an alternate solution that might even help others who either don't have the needed original screw or don't want to remove the whole inner door mechanism. I made a replacement from readily available hardware (some parts must be trimmed down for perfect 'snug' fitment). You will notice it screws from the front instead of the back which is why you can replace this without pulling the whole door glass assembly out. I just dropped the black piece shown with the added pressed-in nut, down the track and then the rest goes in from the front. It actually seems to now roll up and down smoother due to the different design which clamps the glass in different way and is more adjustable. I learned a lot from this thread, thanks for all your info. See pics for more detail of the fix.

Nice job!

I could not of done this without you.

Thanks, but my input was minimal. I have spent the last two months sorting out components and installing my door and 1/4 glass. The earlier referenced thread was a big help.
