So, my key was stuck in my ignition, and I did the trick of rotating the collar on the column and she came right out. How do I keep this from happening again?

What shape is the key in? If it is an old key that is significantly worn, it is possible the lock pins are not being pushed to the proper location and getting stuck. I would imagine that would show up more when turning the car on than off. But it is probably something simliar where it isn't lining up properly.

If you want to do some digging @Cuda Cody has this excellent video that will help tear down the steering wheel so you can get to the lock.

Do you have a 1970 column or a 1971+?  Is the lockout linkage hooked up?

Sounds like he's running a 70 column without any of the lock-out linkage :dunno:

Yup, under "Current E-bodies Owned" he's listed 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T.

Thank you for the video. I bought a new ignition cylinder and keys. The car apparently used to be a column shift, but now it's on the floor.
