Lock cylinder question

Reassembling my 73 challenger after painting it and am about to install the door handles, locks, rods, etc.
I noticed that on the end of the lock cylinder, the rod arm is held on by a bent nail, and the rod arm itself seems to have quite a bit of back and forth slop in it each way before it bites on the cylinder shaft.
How should the lock arm be correctly fastened to the end of the lock cylinder (I'm guessing the bent nail is t factory) and secondly, should there be any slop in the connection between the rod arm and lock cylinder?

the tailpiece should move a bit before it stops & moves the rod
usually it is retained by an E clip

I can't find a better picture right now , you cannot really see the black E clip against the black tailpiece .

C clip, NAPA should carry them.

I don't know how but he nailed it !!
Probably drilled a hole through the core , might need a new lock
