Orientation of dome lamp

Hello all,
I'm installing headliner today and don't have pics of the original orientation of the dome lamp. Should bulb socket hole be toward front or back?

I thought the wire comes out from the front?    It probably does not matter much anyway.  The wire goes across and down towards the drivers side.
