So got my car out on Saturday and when I get home my 3 year old hops in and rolls the passenger window down and helped me back it into the shop. He was trying to roll it up and said it was really hard and sure enough it was tough. I took the door panel off and the 2 roller wheels that ride inside the C channel came out. Question is what do I have to do to get them back in? I looked at it scratching my head for awhile and doesnt look easy

The roller wheels came out of the glass or out of the track ?

you probably have to unbolt the rail from the bottom of the glass , slide the rail back onto the rollers & bolt the rail back onto the glass but you also need to figure out why it cam apart in the first place , damaged rollers or bent rail ?

It came off the track. While I was scratching my head looking at it, it reminded me of how a garage door works, the roller wheels roll inside of the "c" shaped track. When I get home from work I will take a picture.

As far as the rollers being damaged I could get my fingers and eyes on the bottom roller and it seemed normal, the top roller I could only see but it looked okay as well (no pieces missing). The track also looked ok I couldn't see anything bent.

What boggles me is how it seemed fine last fall before it got put away in storage and I get it out and it breaks.

things deteriorate sitting or using them , probably close to 50 years old now !!
so you are talking about the sliders in the main vertical track , not the rollers in the horizontal window reg track ?

JonH

make sure your down stop is in place. If your 3 year old muscled it down too far or the  stop is missing, they may have come out because of that...

Plumcrazy72

Ya it's the vertical track that they came out of. I should ha e stated that sorry.

As for the stops being in place, they are there

It's hard to believe the sliders came out of the front track without breaking something. Here's some pictures of the front track sliders. The blue piece slides inside the c channel.  The white piece is sandwiched between the glass and the track. the metal flat nut (missing the hard plastic washer) sits on the inside of the glass window. Is the whole slider assembly still bolted together

I can't see how it's physically possible for the roller wheel to come out of the track ?

Now that makes more sense, So it looks like somehow they unbolted from each other. Now any idea how I fix it? I'm assuming that the blue slide piece bolts into the white piece,  so would it be safe to say the white piece is likely stripped out?

I love door glass...
Here's exactly what's going on with your...
There are two different widths front window channels. The wider one takes the green sliders like in Rob's picture and the narrower one take rounds rollers pictured below.

You have the wider channel in your car and the two abandoned green sliders just resting at the bottom of the track.
Your glass has the round rollers meant for the narrower track. It seems someone just jammed them in there thinking they would stay, and they did for a while.

No, the white piece is just a spacer. If the nut didn't come off the bolt and the bolt didn't break , then it must be the blue piece is broken. Here's a couple more pictures to help

To fix it PROPERLY I would remove the glass from the door and work on it on the bench. You need to either replace the front track with a narrow one or remove the round rollers from the glass and find the rest of the hardware to use the proper green sliders (available in reproduction.
Also remove the front track. Depending on who you know or what parts you might have laying around, I say the cheapest, easiest way would be to get the narrow front track.

Ok, well thanks for all the help thus far. This is all new to my rookie eyes, I have never seen this stuff before so I very much appreciate it.
