I'm installing a new headliner in my 73 challenger and I am cleaning up all of the parts I had to remove before reinstalling them.
The rear view mirror on my car has a black base, black plastic mirror surround, and a metal shaft between. The shaft looks bad and is pitted up I'm guessing from nicotine over the years as the car was heavily smoked in.
How can I go about freshening up the mirror shaft? It looks like it can be disassembled, so I'm wondering if bead blasting and pAinting is the way to go, or some other type of technique.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I take them apart, use a wire wheel to clean up the post and paint it with Seymore's Stainless Steel paint or just a clear coat depending on how it looks once clean
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

This is a better match for the original finish than the Seymour paint.. (which I like & use btw)
