Hey Guys, I could use some help. I am getting ready to install the headliner and sail panels in my 70 Challenger SE. As many of you know, the SE uses a completely different headliner board and sail panels.

My question is, does the headliner board and sail panels overlap? or do they fit together tightly right up to one another with no overlap?

My headliner board is original and fits like a glove. My sail panels are aftermarket and are either a couple inches too big and need to be trimmed, or they are designed to overlap the headliner board. Any photos or explanation would be greatly appreciated!

They overlap the headliner board... Probably more like 1.5"...  No photos, haven't owned a E body with a roof in 25 years..

Thank you. Does the sail panel go on top of the headliner board? or did they install them with the headliner on top of the sail panels?

Just seems odd they would overlap. Especially when the interior has a metal trim piece that fits around the window.

Not saying mine is correct but the headliner board and sail panels are original to the car. My headliner board and sail panels butt up to each other. Here are some photos.

I have since eliminated the small gap in the 3rd picture by placing some dense foam behind the headliner board.

What "metal trim piece that fits around the window"?

@headejm This makes more sense to me after what I saw when mocking up the headliner and sail panels. Thank you very much!

I was referring to the trim piece that is in your 2nd and 3rd photo but missing in your 1st photo.

Do you recall how many clips held on your sail panels? From what I gather it was originally only one clip. Any other tips or items I should be aware of when installing?

Thanks again for your help.

Only one (door panel type) clip per sail panel. There is a metal clip holder attached to the back of the sail panel that holds the clip. I think the clip is more of a locator for the sail panel as opposed to really holding it on.

The sail panel is securely held by the coat hook and the rear interior panel. It really can't go anywhere once you get it placed where you want it. Here are a few more photos. Sorry, don't have one of the backside of the sail panel.

@headejm this is incredibly helpful. Thank you for the photos. I'm going to finish mocking up the headliner and sail panels tomorrow as a final test fit. I will then take them back out and install the material.

Does anyone remake the sail panels?   I've heard someone is making the headliner board, but that he isn't very responsive?

My Gran Coupe has the same style headliner/sail panel and overhead console.   About the only thing to survive was the overhead console, and even that is getting 'soft' around the edges since its nothing more than pressed cardboard.     wish they would have used a more durable material for this stuff....

I ordered mine from Claude at SE Headliners. 618-977-1501. He is still producing and shipping as of a few weeks ago.

Good to know.  I got nervous about them when their website says "We will be at the 2014 Mopar Nationals, order now to save on shipping!" on their website.
