70 Cuda 4 speed

The steering column part between the section with key and the dash keeps moving and will prevent me from removing my key. Whats best way to prevent it ?  It never did it for several years and now it moves all the time. First time I couldn't remove my key, I almost started to take column apart before I found out wtf was going on. Now I just turn the "can" a little.

On '70 models it could be the lockout linkage to the column is not connected or has been removed...  see info here https://forum.e-bodies.org/engine-transmission-and-rear-end/4/transmission-linkage/13181/msg178111#msg178111

I also have a 70 Cuda 4-speed.  My lockout linkage on the steering column is removed and my inner sleeve on the column does not do that. Something is wrong/broken/disconnected inside your column.  I'd take the wheel off and then start dissecting the inside of your column while watching Cody's tutorial video on steering column teardowns and rebuilds.  Good luck.
