So my son is working hard to get the windows and all hardware back into the doors.  We took them apart one night a long time ago in haste.  We failed to take any pictures.  We eventually mixed up all the parts, left and right.  I gave him the blow-ups from the service manual that I acquired from this website, and he has used them to put the doors back together.  I have put him in charge of that part and been TOTALLY hands-off.  He has done it all with nearly zero help from me.  Now that they are mostly together, there is a lot of squeaking as the windows go up and down.  I am thinking that the slide mechanisms need some type of grease or other lube.  Any suggestions on what lube and where to apply it?

Also, I took apart the mechanisms for the rear quarters, again in haste.  Took no pictures.  I will have him put them back together since he did a good job figuring out the doors.

Impressive that he did that without having any pics.  The service manual pics are pretty lame.  I would say, lube anything and everything that moves, including the plastic slides, tracks, gear mechanisms etc.  I used grease.  I dont think it matters too much what kind.  Some say white lithium.  I used some grease that i found in my fathers garage.  It was really thick and dark. Texaco brand in a big can.  Its still smooth and slippery but doesnt get displaced easily.

Agree, lube everything and run them up and down. Check to make sure nothing looks like it is binding. Good luck
