Hi all!

First off ,  the new site looks awesome Cody and gang , thanks for taking your personal time to do this for the hobby.

So I'm a life long mopar guy that grew up around  my dads race-car , and many assorted mopars he had over the years.  Finally building my own 70 dart back in the 90's.

In 1993 we picked up a 73 challenger cheap , and she sat in various garages until 2015 when I finally had the funds to do the car right...

Now she is finally almost done  ( wheel alignment , charge ac ).

She is a driver and she was built with that in mind .

Ive learned so much from this group of good guys in the past ,  hope i can contribute were I can and listen and learn to make my next projects  better each time .

Again thanks ....

So she is a 1973 dodge challenger 340 rallye auto ac car

She has been completely gone thru now : body ,paint , american autowire rewire, led conversion vintage air ,legendary interior, ultimate ride dash, 372 stroker , tti exhaust , and rebuilt rear.

My father was a 50% owner  in the team , the other owner bought my dad out  in the late 80's and moved out to the midwest.  Now from what we hear he is incarcerated for tax issues.

The "rumor " is the car was sold in  1996  ...   Ive been looking ... Unfortanly my dad has no data at all on the car , really dad nothing?  Grrrrr.   :pullinghair:

How great would that be to find your dad's old race car!

Tell me more about your 73.  Where did you find it?  Now that it's done what are your plans with her?  Do you show her a lot or more a street beast?  What do you like best about it and is there anything you do different?

RUNCHARGER

Easy enough for a racer to lose track of a car. They sold them and usually moved up to something else and didn't think twice about it. I usually photocopy records of cars when I sell them although I'm not sure why. Most of my cars are close to stock though and they are usually unique enough to be able to track them easily.

That's a great idea.  We should all be doing that.

Cody,

So. I picked her up in 1993 .  The owner brought her to nj from ny in the hopes of selling her at mopars at e-town.  Well he broke down on the way  (20 min north of e-town) and a friend asked him if he wanted to sell it when he was on the side of the road .   Well he sold everything that day ... I got the chally and my friend bought the van and trailer and  the owner took a bus home .

I plan on driving her  as much as i can ,  I work odd hours so im not much of a car show guy , I really enjoy showing the world what mopars are all about .  I want to hit  e-town mopar show and carlisle if i can ..    I built her to drive  and enjoy as my stress relief .

Well  i am really pleased of how she came out , I'm proud to say All the work was done by Me and my father, except  3 things install the vinyl top, headliner, and rebuild the transmission.

Im glad i kept her more toward the restoration side ....build wise ,  I did switch the body and interior color and she has different wheels .  But still kept her  in the 70's period looks  .

Ok here is my list of regrets:

I regret switching the colors , she was b5 blue  with blue interior ,  i love the purple dont get me wrong , but  i saw a blue blue car the other day and was like .. Damm  shes nice

I regret  not getting the car soda blasted , and start with an ultimately clean slate, finding the rust and waiting for the panels cost me time and money in shipping to keep her on track.

I regret not putting full quarters on , I think i spent two much time welding grinding etc doing lower quarters. And fulls would have been less time.

Thanks for the complements guys ..

Good tips from your "regrets". Perhaps we should start a regrets thread so others can learn from it.  :dunno:
