I've never believed that 11 number either. The 1970/71 Challenger Shaker Registry website shows 18 shaker convertibles listed (383 and 340) in 1971. More believable number. Thanks for the compliments on the car. It's not restored but has been repaired from a couple of accidents and repainted. Driver quality. Made to enjoy, not just to look at. That's my philosophy on my cars. Here's a couple more photos. Again, thanks for the warm welcome. The first is me with the car in 1972 on the day I got it home. It cost me $90 to get the fender fixed. It got hit again several months later and had to be replaced. The second is a shot of the cars interior taken a couple of years ago.

That's pretty cool for sure. There was a published list stating there were only (11) 1971 340 Shaker Challenger Convertibles.

Not exactly accurate, there were at least three more sold new in Canada that weren't included in that number.

to be fair - the published numbers are for US spec. shipped cars - and none of the "numbers" we've come to use are bulletproof & are often misused

   First time I've ever seen one.  So rare, they had a factory stamp to point it out.

I asked the original owner of the Barrelcuda why he ordered a 5 speaker, cassette deck, AM radio.......Simple answer....NFLD didn't have any FM stations at the time.

@71vert340   when did you know your 71 Challenger was special?  I mean, really special.  Did you know when you bought it that is was rare or did you buy it and learn later it was super rare?

When I bought it in 72, I had not seen another like it so that's the reason I bought it. I was actually thinking about buying a B5 70 Gran Coupe with 383 - 2bbl at that time, but changed my mind and bought the 71. It was in the early 80's (maybe 1983 or so) when I saw the production numbers in a Chrysler Power magazine for Shaker e-bodies. When I moved from western Washington, I could only bring one Challenger with me. I sold my 70 Challenger R/T convertible ( burnt orange, white top and interior) 383 auto., my 70 SE 383 auto B5, and my 72 auto 318 Challenger. I kept the 71 based on rarity.  I still have that Chrysler Power magazine, so the date on it is when I realized the rarity - I need to pull that issue out. I didn't realize until this post the rarity of the AM radio with stereo cassette - I never thought about it.
