Post in the wanted section with the photos and as many details as possible is your best bet. If the car is still around there is a decent possibility someone will know about it. The downside is lots of these cars have been crushed over the years.

Welcome! I spent 10 years researching the car my parents had when I was a kid. It is a 68 Roadrunner. Well I found it by only knowing the license number and the name of the guy my dad sold it to, which was the wrong name! I found it using the old interweb and doing some driving to check out addresses of possible owners. My situation was unique because it stayed with the same guy.
