Detroit Muscle Tech check it has one

Mr Cuda

Great topic,  needs more information.
Soft Seal or Steele,  before I get a word back from daveh.
Detroit only lists selling Steele, not their own.

Soffseal probably has not manufactured the E-Body convertible top kits in five or more years.  At one time, they was the only one that had a kit available.  Approximately three to four years ago, Steele Rubber reproduced the kit.  So if you should find a Soffseal kit, it will be several years old.

The Soffseal kit was far from being OE correct, but filled the void for those needing these pieces.  The biggest issue that I recall was that the top frame extrusion that sealed to the quarter glass and extended down into the quarter panel was incorrectly molded for the portion that extended down into the quarter panel.  Otherwise, it was possible to get the other pieces to fit.  Back in the day, the kits were very cost effective for the given product.  Much like reproduction door seals or roof rail seals, they all have issues as compared to the OEM pieces.

The Steele piece seems to work well for the kits that we have sold.  They are pricey at $390.00 for the header and top frame kit and the A-Pillar seals are $194.00 for the kit.  At this time, due to the cost of tooling and the limited number that you would sell, I cannot foresee anyone else like Metro stepping up and reproducing them.

Steele Rubber has a limited number of vendors that carries their product, so most customers end up buying direct from them.  Vendors that do carry the Steele product is doing it to offer product coverage for their customer base.

When looking at Mopar weatherstripping, many people get the names mixed up.  Metro offers what it calls it Supersoft line, then you have Soffseal which falls under the RPUI ownership and branding, Steele Rubber operates as its own entity, and then you have Clester's making more specialized runs.  Most vendors deal with the Metro Supersoft line due to the product coverage and price points.

Hopes that this gives some insight into the availability of this part.
www.restorationpartsandmaterials.com  Mopar weatherstripping is our specialty, but we offer a wide assortment of restoration products.

Mr Cuda

I will reread this once I look at my top frame.
I pulled the trigger on both sets from Daveh. It was a great deal, how could I say no.
I know there is always some issues with reproduction.   I'm hoping that I can use some of my factory parts still. A quick glance says they aren't that bad.
I will have to buy A pillar no matter what.
